Was Ricky Hatton the worst Hugger in history?

People who were ragging on Abril against Rios need to go watch some Ricky Hatton fights.. that dude hugged fighters like he was in love.. go watch Tszyu vs Hatton for confirmation.. now THATS someone who should have been disqualified several times for his hugging and clinching..

i can remember watching that fight live and thinking when is the ref going to disqualify this guy but the ref didn't even give him a damn warning..

and in the Mayweather v Hatton 24/7 i can recall Hattons trainer several times telling Hatton to hug (and "nullify" his opponent) plus he said that in-between rounds during the actual fight..

was there ever anyone that was consistently a worse hugger/holder than Hatton or was he the worst offender in all boxing history?

In my honest opinion Wlad is the worst hugger. At least Hatton was punching and fighting while he was hugging you. Wlad just grabs guys right away when they try to throw punches. I'm a big Wlad fan but Steward got him hugging way too much. It's annoying to watch.

Hatton wasn't as bad as people make out. He used to like getting in real close and then pushing off to fire punches. The problem was when he did this fighters would usually grab a hold of a arm and they'd end up in a wrestling match and people would get pissed off. Hatton didn't know how to fight any other way and people blame him for all the holding. When he was tired though he did look to hold on every occasion like in the Urango fight.

He was bad against Urango but often when he was close it was his opponent holding him. You know who's really bad for that? Andre Dirrell. He can fight on the outside beautifully but he spends more times hugging and then falling over.
