If Roach had been training Hatton to fight Pac, would it've ended any differently?

I watched this again the other day, probably one of the most exciting two round fights there has been.

It was the combination of power and speed coming from unusual angles that Ricky had trouble with.

He could take the punches on the way in from all the other fighters he faced (incl. Tszyu, Mayweather etc) get inside and go to work but against Pacquiao he was getting hit flush, hard - without always seeing the punches coming.

Cotto got caught in the same way but after he was knocked down he stopped engaging and went on the back-foot whereas Ricky just kept coming lol, too brave for his own good. Often by the time he got inside he was trying to recover from the shot he took on the way in.

In short, a terrible style match-up for Hatton, the speed and angles were one thing but the power was a killer, having another trainer might've had it last longer but he was always losing that fight.

Still, Pacquiao was fighter of the decade, many wouldn't have even taken the fight.

Incidentally, I don't think Roach has improved some of Khan's weaknesses.

if he had listened to floyd sr the fight wouldve been more competitive...he probably wouldve still been stopped but hatton wouldve boxed more like he did malignaggi instead of rushing in like a madman thinking he could smother pac

Only because it was high risk and no gain , the only way Hatton Pac might have been different is if it was right before Floyd Hatton , Floyd ruined whatever Hatton was , he was a shadow after the Floyd fight .
