Arum wanted to make this fight in 2011, but Nonito was so upset that he couldn't take a money fight in Arce or Vazquez Jr. that he threatened to jump ship to GBP.

Arum gave him his wish in the Vazquez Jr. fight and the rest is history.
moreno flat out turned down donaire. well, his wife did

According to reports in Panama, World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (30-1, 10KOs) has rejected an offer to face WBC/WBO champion Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18KOs) on May 28 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Moreno's agent, Roberto Grimaldo, was informed by the boxer than offer of $300,000 is insufficient. The message came through Chemito's wife.

Donaire is more likely a superstar and popular than this bum Moreno. I've never seen this Moreno's fights showed on HBO or even Showtime.

Lesson #1: don't talk about what or who you don't know. It makes you seem real ******. How can you call someone a bum if you haven't seen them fight, especially a champion? SMDH......

It seems that Donaire doesn't want any tough fights (high-risk, low-reward), nor will Top Stank let that happen.

Stylistically this would be a very UGLY fight. Moreno fights very defensively and doesn't engage all that much. I'd rather see Mares vs Donaire that would be a great fight because of their styles.

Said the manager he was trying desperately to get rid of and signed with GBP to get away from. Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean there isn't context.

Moreno was trying to get his house in order.

That fight was never close to becoming reality no matter what anyone says. Donaire was about to get at odds with Top Rank at the same time it got mentioned.

No one has avoided anyone in the Donaire/Moreno thing. Period.

This is total BS. Like Whitaker (yes, another comparison), Moreno gets accused of not fighting when he's actually moving his hands a lot. He rips to the body and can land that check counter left from just about any position. It's not his problem he beats dudes up while not getting his back, but he's right there in front of guys to engage most of the time. He's just that good right now.

Not gonna see Donaire vs. Mares or Donaire vs. Moreno. Hopefully, Oscar gives us Moreno vs. Mares within the next year.
