Stevenson had him on the ropes but the hometown ref effed up and stopped it way too early. Gonzalez is an experinced guy who had never been stopped and should have been given a chance.

Hated the early stoppage but after seeing the instant replay of those punches Gonzalez got pounded with I guess the ref made the right call.

early stoppage for home fighter in quebec...surprised? quebec & england have the worst refs. although bad judging is worldwide or just the judges get paid well & favor the promoters fighter. WBC's open scoring is actually a good thing...

agree..let it be a late stoppage with brain bleeding rather than stopping the fight too early and thus deny us a clean "stretcher" KO.
Let's do it the "Indonesian" way, last man standing up is the winner.

Good performance, I don't think the stoppage was THAT bad.

I thought it was a good stoppage. The grimace on Gonzalez face said everything. He also had a hard time getting back to his corner when the ref called the fight.

We live to fight another day.

Yes, because that's exactly what everybody is saying. Why not just stop every fight as soon as somebody gets knocked down, or gets cornered and forced to fight his way out? Gonzalez appeared stunned at the end of the barrage but he is a veteran fighter who has never been stopped and may very well have been able to survive
