    Question about Nathan Cleverly

Why is he so obsessed with fighting a 47 year old man?

Every time I read something from team Cleverly it's about how much they want to fight Hopkins (in the UK). They never say they want the winner of Hopkins - Dawson or Pascal or Cloud or the top 168 pounders, they just talk about wanting to fight Hopkins. Now if Hopkins is able to beat Dawson he would still be considered the top dog at the weight and it would look like Cleverly wants to fight the best but I see it as Cleverly just wants to get Hopkins' name on his resume'. Beating Hopkins at this point in Bernard's career isn't saying much. I know Bernard has a belt but beating a 47 year old man isn't saying much. I see Dawson fighting Bernard as a different situation then Cleverly fighting Bernard. I think Dawson wants to win his title back more then just wanting Bernard's name on his resume'. Cleverly is looking to have Hopkins name on his resume' because he believes this would legitimize his WEAK resume' up to now.

So basically he is a fraud and doesn't care about being considered a good fighter? If the answer is yes I understand his approach. This would let me know to never take him serious. Thanks for the replies

I understand it's the bigger money fight but he hasn't done anything yet to be worried about the big money fight yet. Most of the big money makers in the sport legitimize themselves then go for the big money fights. It looks like Cleverly wants to portray himself as a fighter but really is a fraud looking to make a name off a old legend.

What fighter would fight Chad Dawson over Hopkins? Not one.

Dawson and Hopkins are fighting and he hasn't once said he wants to fight the winner. Cleverly just wants to fight Hopkins and that is pretty pathetic. I don't have a problem with him having a preference but to not want the winner is weak. I fully expect him to continue fighting bums if Hopkins loses to Dawson.

Better for wanting to secure a bigger payday for getting punched in head? Come on dude, 90% of boxers, especially ones sitting on a title would do the same. Besides Hopkins would be the biggest pay day by a mile and Hopkins time left is limited. No wonder he is all out for this fight.

Probably. Or he might fight Hopkins anyway.
