I'm puertorican and I was born and raised on the island. I moved to the states (Philly, Philly!!!) when i was 8. I'm guilty of rooting for ricans over mexicans myself, when they fight, but I would expect mexicans to do the same. Some of my favorite boxers right now are mexicans. Simply because they're good!!! I mean they have a healthy dose of up and coming boxers and I don't see why race would stop anyone from liking them. I respect Mayweather the boxer and I think he's a very talented athlete. As far as Mayweather the person is concerned I could care less for him. He's narrow minded and seems to have no respect for anyone (even his own father). I remember the days when athletes had class, that's one of the reasons Michael Jordan was so loved by everyone. The one thing that turns me off from becoming a fan of a boxer is ****yness. Some people are truly their worst enemy. Anyway I know I'm rooting for Aber Mares this saturday!

Cotto also hugged and ran like a girl the minute he felt Margarito´s power so he is a coward. Ricans are Latinos but they hate Mexican boxers and are loud mouths that´s why we don´t like them. Mayweather being bullied by Ortiz? That might be the funniest thing I've heard in a while bro. Floyd started to sit on his punches and threw everything from straight rights, left hooks and mixed in uppercuts with precision. Floyd actually appeared to be working his way to a stoppage before Ortiz went ape **** because...HE COULDN'T BULLY MAYWEATHER LIKE HE THOUGHT HE WOULD!
Cotto hugged and ran like a girl? The second funniest thing I've heard, LMFAO! He used BOXING to break Margs down and kept him at bay the entire fight. When you land 50% of your power punches and bust someone's face up its kind of idiotic to say "ran like a girl". Maybe he didn't stand in the middle of the ring and not utilize defense and just face first brawl with a very crude, basic style the way Margs does. He actually learned how to box a long time ago and it's probably why Cotto is still relevant while Margs is just an afterthought.

I'm Latino and rooting for Floyd. Nationalist pride is something I understand most people gravitate to. But to be honest, for me personally, I feel above such petty things and think a lot of sports would be better without people having favorites based merely on how they identify with teams/athletes geographically and/or ethnically. Hard work, talent and success should be celebrated in sports(or anywhere in life for that matter) regardless of what a team or individual represent. First and foremost they're people, just like you and I, accomplishing great feats that the average person only dreams of and it's why they are revered in the first place. Show some respect REGARDLESS.

Floyd already forgot that on the press conference in PR half of the people there were rooting for him. Most of you guys will be surprise with the amount of boricuas that are rooting for Floyd in this fight. A mix of hate to Cotto and recognition to Floyd's talent. We will be happy if Cotto pulls the upset but not disappointed if he dont win. He has two L in his record already.

BTW, it is so funny to read people talking about us without even being here in the island. Also funny to read ricans that dont live here act the way they do when culturally we aint like that.

I rooted for cotto both fights. The first one was hard....all my fam was happy cheato beat him down. I was sad for cotto.

Juan Manuel Marquez is one of my top three favorite boxers. Oh, and I'm Rican--go figure.
