They certainly can when one of their boys handles Tyszu the way that he did. Congradulations on a well fought fight!

Karma for Exig3. **** on the money. Tsyzu claimed he was a better fighter for the Hatton fight than he was when he fought the likes of Vince Philips and Zab Judah ( *********,May16th2005)
90% of boxingscene claimed that the great tsyzu was
going to hammer Hatton ( Boxingscene, June 3rd 2005, final prediction poll ).

So in the eyes of *********, Tsyzu and 90% of boxingscene Tsyzu was at his very peak when he fought Hatton. So, i think hatton wins fighter of the year based on his vcitories over WBA champ and the great, prime, top three p4p at the time, Tsyzu!

I can't believe how little stick I've got for this one... much be losing my touch.

(and yeah, good point, Kimmy, though as Cotto holds the WBO I kind of count Hatton as holding half, not two thirds, but yeah, it's debatable, certainly)

The thing is, I don't even like the little paler that much - he needs to get on a sunbed, never mind get in a boxing ring. But beating the No.1 man in the division and p4p/HOF entrant (who was only regarded on here as being "old" AFTER he got beat by Hatton) effortlessly eclipses Mayweather's bashing up of Gatti and then moving instantly out of the division to face the deadly threat (aka. Zoo's Sloppy Seconds) of Sharmba Mitchell. To add to this fact that - regardless of the opponent - he also took another belt before the year was out and he CLEARLY achieved more in boxing than any of the other mentioned guys, whether we like it or not.

Let's be honest, here - if Ricky Hatton had "The United States of America" on his passport we wouldn't even be ASKING this question.

Picking fighter of the year this year is a tough job.

At much as I hate the alphabet soup I do credit Hatton for at least trying to tie that up. It's all very well people saying (on another thread) that Brewster is deserving, but as much as I like Brewster - and don't believe it's his fault - another year has gone by with another ununified division.

Roy Jones may be "known", but he's just a shell of himself, and it's not as if anyone on here really rates Glen Johnson, is it?
