But I'm confident Dawson has Hopkins figured out, it doesn't matter what Hopkins does.

Hopkins took a similar dive against Robert Allen in the first fight, who he was also having trouble with. Eventually I think Dawson would have beaten Hopkins badly had the fight continued, and Hopkins knew it. It was two rounds, it was a feeling out round, but Hopkins was BACKING up the whole night. It's better explained in this video.

took a dive? he was thrown out of the ring. how ****** are you guys? you think there is no such thing as an injury? Hopkins fought with a dislocated shoulder once. if he could continue he would.

There was no x-ray exams, and after the fight he was able to move his shoulder when talking to Kellerman, and not even being in agonizing pain while talking to Kellerman. The whole thing was su****ious. And Hopkins is known for "acting" (see fight vs Jones and Calzaghe). Most boxers would have gone up and shrugged it off, but some reason fragile Hopkins "dislocated" his shoulder? Bull**** it wasn't dislocated, he probably was in pain, but wasn't dislocated. If it was dislocated Hopkins wouldn't be fighting April 28.

The trolls aren't worth feeding. If people say that Hopkins was faking it, let them.

I just watched the fight back. The reality is that 1 jab and 1 left hook was all Dawson managed to land in nearly 2 rounds.

          Hopkins by wide UD.

Another set of reasons why Hopkins would not have faked it, other than the obvious ones already discussed to death:

Hopkins was facing history. Already the oldest ever world champion, he had the opportunity to be the oldest ever champion to defend his belt, and be the oldest ever fighter of the year (almost nailed on had he won). There was a reason Hopkins looked a bit nervous - he was 36 minutes away from being an absolute legend, a name still known in 100, 200 years time.

And it was taken away from him with an injury caused by a foul, which the HBO commentators - to their credit - called immediately. "And Dawson tackles Hopkins!" exclaimed Lampley. As the ref explained it was a TKO and he was calling no foul, Max Kellerman states, "That's the wrong call."

The only reasons people can give for Hopkins faking this are gut feelings, past antics in different situations (getting a breather vs Calzaghe), and what Dawson says. There is no logical reason he would have faked the injury. The fact that there is a rematch rules out not wanting the fight.

Hopkins was a man on a date with destiny. Fortunately 6 months for a guy in his 40s means less to Bernard Hopkins than it does to ordinary men.

Wow. So I'm taking a good guess you have never dislocated or broken a bone before. Ask most people who have, which unfortunately I've myself down both; they will tell you that even with a broken or dislocated arm, you can still move it! Boxing rings aren't like the WWE; There is no padding.

And dislocations don't take more than a month to heal.

He fought him for a few minutes, faked an injury, and then signed a rematch.

                makes sense.

He was having a hard time against Dawson, maybe Hopkins thought he would have lost and decided it would better to change his strategy the next time, so he found a way out. He faked being hurt before, this time he faked an injury to get out of a match.

John Scully dislocated his shoulder in 1999, and it took him 6 months just to begin training. And Scully went through all types of rehabilitation. Hopkins dislocated his shoulder I didn't hear anything about his rehabilitation, and he's able to fight 7 months later? The rematch is happening anyway, and that's that

lmao...... or maybe, the the other scenario with a 99% higher probability rate, that he really did injure his shoulder because he's the oldest world champion in the history of the world and he just got slammed on the ground.
