Danny Jacobs On Cutting Weight (Facebook Post)

He posted this on Facebook about 7 minutes ago..

i hate to see some of the things us boxers have to do to lose weight. Ive seen crazy things from wearing ppl garbage bags under layers of clothes to chewing tons of gum and spitting it out or even hours in th sauna days before the fight! I remember even i use to make the shower room a steam room then jump rope for hours just to try and drop off pounds lol Its time we all educate ourselves on how to properly lose weight while still having proper nutrition. I just think about all the fighters who had amazing talent who lost fights not because this person wasnt the better boxer, but by simply being too drained in weak to perform at their best. how many of us can relate ???

No, unfortunately, he was diagnosed with spinal cancer and had to do treatment.

Maybe they should actually fight at a weight class they're comfortable at as opposed to trying to duck fighters their own size...? Same day weigh-ins are much needed.

I do agree that nutrition and exersise in boxing is not up to date.

I mean theres no one that can tell me when you look at puggy boxers, mainly mexicans, like juan diaz, rios, etc....and fighters with tons of BF% can make them better. There's just no way.

I mean how the fck is rios 139lbs and he looks ot be about 15% bodyfat and hestill can't make weight.

Average BF for males is 18-24%

If he is at 15%, he is perfect fine

People have different body types and 15% is a great range for athletes

Keep yourself in shape so you never have to worry about that....working out in some form every day is great for you. Just pick it up a notch in training camp and you will be at 100% and on weight

I dont think it's a coincidence that the 3 best fighters in the sport Pac, Mayweather and Ward all fight in weight classes where they dont cut weight and walk around at the Division limit.

Ward could make 160 easier than Chavez does yet he has fought his whole career at 168.
