And you think that not landing a clean punch all fight, weighting in 4 pounds heavier at the weigh in and getting exposed, however because Rios's promoter is corrupt and has bribed the judges gets him a win is good for boxing?? BAWBAG!!

        Good man.

I called the commission and complained yesterday. Then I e-mailed this letter to them:

To Mr. Raymond Avansino Jr, Chairman, Nevada State Athletic Commission,

Last night, April 14, 2012, I witnessed one of the worst boxing decisions I've ever seen. Richard Abril clearly should have been awarded a unanimous decision victory over Brandon Rios. Instead, when the cards were read, Rios was granted a split-decision win. It was a travesty and an embarrassment to the sport of boxing. The fight was nowhere near being close. This is not just my opinion; Internet boxing sites are awash with complaints about the scoring and eventual outcome. Out of hundreds of posts I read, not a single person thought Brandon Rios won the fight. It's not just the fans that are disgusted by this horrific decision. Noted boxing journalists, such as Dan Rafael from ESPN, are screaming "robbery."

Results such as in Rios-Abril are destroying professional boxing, not to mention its athletes' careers. I implore you to investigate the decision in this fight. The score cards were the product of either incompetence or corruption. Either way, the offending judges must be taken to task. Several months ago, there was a similar injustice when Erislandy Lara was denied a clear victory over Paul Williams in Atlantic City, NJ. The commissioner of the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, Aaron M. Davis, did the right thing and took the unprecedented step of suspending the "judges" that handed down that terrible decision. I urge you, Mr. Avansino, to take similar and decisive action in the matter of Richard Abril versus Brandon Rios.

        Thank you.

Of course they are. I lol at reading words like incompetent, too old, need re-training...

Jerry roth knew abril won by the proverbial mile. So did towbridge. Corruption is why they scored it for rios. 100 % in topranks pocket.

I just hope more people complain. I'm the sort of guy that believes, if I'm going to go down, I'm going down with my guns blazin'. Even if my letter does nothing, I refuse to go out without a peep. Anyone that does nothing has no right to complain when they get shafted. The sport belongs to the fans. We need to take it back!

........no one wants to see Abril hold another 12 rounds straight. Hope Rios doesn't give him a rematch.

                    extreme snoozer.

I agree. But in an official letter, one cannot make certain accusations without some proof. It's enough to point out that there can only be two choices. It's up to the commision to make their own judgement as to what was amiss.

However, between us, I believe the judges must've been swayed in some fashion. There's simply no way a competent judge could possibly see that fight for Rios. And I believe those judges were competent enough to call such a lopsided affair for the rightful winner: Richard Abril.
