This is the reality of course, I'm not sure what fight HBO were re-capping, I'm starting to think Mayweather is sending 24/7 the scripts to read off.

    Solid post.

yes he was catching him, in their eagerness to show the headbutt HBO did actually show how Ortiz beat Mayweather into the corner before the headbutt and that wasn't even his best flurry of the round.

I lol'd at how he left out the headbutt that caused the whole " cheap " shot thing .... You haters are just funny. Mayweather is undefeated and one of the best boxers ever , deal with it.

and HBO wanted everyone to believe Floyd had lumped up his eye fairly, such b/s. To think the circle-jerkers had the nerve to complain about HBO favouring Pacquiao.

It is funny that you claim Ortiz best round was the fourth when that is when Floyd started teeing off on him. He was forced to fight at a higher pace and to people who like mindless aggression that's a good thing but the reality is it isn't, fighting at a higher pace would ensure he is depleted in the later rounds.

Floyd was dictating the pace of the fight and was picking him apart which is why Ortiz headbutted him. If he was doing as well as people are suggesting he would not have lost his cool.

I'm no Floyd Mayweather fan, and I think he's ducking Pacquiao (although not necessarily out of fear, more over ego).

To suggest that he wasn't beating up Ortiz is to ignore the 95% of the fight where Floyd was landing hard power shots every time Ortiz got close. It was pretty one sided. Yes, Ortiz did land a few shots in the 4th, but to suggest that he was "coming on strong" as if he was going to take over from Mayweather is to ignore every precedent set by Mayweather - when Judah came on strong rounds 1-3, or when Mosley came on strong in the 2nd etc, etc.

Floyd is a ****, but he's a great boxer who consistently improves as fights unfold (only BHop has shown such consistency), and Ortiz was shipping heavy punishment - and had been wobbled already. Ortiz is the one who has shown vulnerability in the past - down against Berto, down and quit against Maidana, faded badly against Lamom Peterson.

The HBO representation of the fight was spot on. To suggest the action we got was leading anywhere other than a Mayweather victory is to ignore all logic and the history of the two fighters. And I wanted Ortiz to win, just like I wanted Hatton to win, just like I'd want Pacquiao to win, and just like I'm angling for Cotto. But credit where credit is due - in Mayweather vs Ortiz, there was a man and boy fighting. The man won.

No one is suggesting that as a definite, however HBO were indicating Ortiz was a beaten fighter when the opposite was true, he was still strong unhurt and ready to go many more rounds.

Anyone suggesting Ortiz was about to be stopped or that he looked a beaten fighter in the 4th is out of their mind, whether you think he won it or not his last round was his best round, that's not a sign of a beaten fighter and HBO mis-represented the reality talking about closed eyes and punishments etc, what a load of nonsense.

HBO failed to mention how Ortiz was 4-5 clean punches away from a TKO stoppage.

Also that floyd was using his elbow a few dozen times.

And how he had the head over the top rope running for his life which is in violation of the rules.

And also how Cortez never said "Time In" and floyd hit him twice which is not only in violation of the rules but floyd should've lost by DQ

Let's be honest Mayweather was dominating the whole fight. The only reason Ortiz head butted Mayweather was because he couldn't land any solid punches. I just watched the fight again. I noticed Ortiz led with his head towards mayweather's face a couple of times when they were close together. Mayweather is just a class above Ortiz. My favorite part of the fight is when Ortiz throws a straight left and Mayweather punches Ortiz' punch to the side. I was like damn....
