BOXING VS MMA fighter- the easy way to resolve it.

Everyone knows the Boxer vs MMA fighter debate that was all over and atleast has cool down a bit these days. Use to hear MMA fans say MMA fighter would destroy a boxer in the octagon eg ( Toney vs couture ) and boxing fans say that boxers would knock out the MMA fighter eg( mercer vs silva ) . I say there is a simple way to resolve this. What does the MMA fighter train that a boxer also similarly trains? STAND UP.... Basically u can't prove anything about Whose the better fighter when u make it a boxing match or mma rules fight.... Rather put them in a K1 fight with MMA gloves, stand up rules( punching , kicking , elbows knees ) , in this way the boxer doesn't have to worry about ground fighting and with the mma gloves punchig power increases, athe MMA fighter can use his knees elbows kicks and is used to MMA gloves. I think 8 outta ten times the boxer will win, even though he doesn't train in kicking and etc.

If it's a street like fight, an MMA/UFC type of fight, they'll beat the s**t out of a boxer once they get him on the ground.

If it's about just punching and not wrestling each other to the ground, the boxer will tee off on them.

Different sports, personally I can't stand MMA/UFC. I feel like any time I try to watch it, it's 15% punching, 35% wrestling, and 50% pinning them on the ground. I can't stand to watch it.

That's not the way to solve MMA-Boxing, that would answer Kickboxing Vs Boxing, as it would be limiting the Mixed-martial artist to kickboxing, not mixed martial arts...

When are people going to understand that they're different sports. There's a reason everyone says a boxer wins a boxing match and the MMA fighter wins an MMA fight. It's the same way a tennis player wouldn't do well in rugby, or snooker, or football. They're different sports, there isn't an answer as to which is better...

Can't mix them together, that wouldn't solve the
        problem...

My couzins are MMA fighters, they said it was hard employing their technique with a superior boxer, could not get them on the ground, and the Jab kept em off quite comfortbly, enroute to some knockdowns.

You entirely miss the point of mma being the middle ground for several arts and disregard the fact not all mma fighters come from a standup background.

Couture vs toney for example. Toney has boxed since 8yrs old while couture is an olympic wrestler that didnt train in stand up at all until he became an mma fighter in his late 20s. So even with the use of elbows and kicks toney would still have a far superior understanding of positioning, timing, balance and power.

A better example of the essence of mma would be if you ask what would happen if you took prime toney and matched him against prime mercer in a cage. They could **** all fight proving who's the better boxer or one of them could try to take the other down exploiting weaknesses in other areas.

The prob I have is that mma guys like saying even in a stand up they are more equiped and can
Take the boxer which i doubt highly. I even
Think if toney had been less faded and had taken out a year or two
To learn bjj and grAppling then start fighting his way up and after 5 or so fights then go up against couture, I say he would have a chance to win and. The thing is when known boxers come to mma they jump right in the deep end an don't take out time to learn properly, and Dana white doesn't have a prob putting them in coz it helps UFC look better. Crocop, overeem are all examples of good strikers who learnt the diff aspects of mma and became successful. If Omar Henry had continued his desire to do mma and had continued to learn bjj with the Gracie camp I think he would have shown what a good boxer can do when he learns the ground game and truly commits to studying the game.

what mma guys are these saying these things because I havent heard 1 example of it.

And a boxer cannot simply take a year or 2 to devote to to learning bjj and expect to kick ass because the fundamentals of grappling goes against the muscle memory developed through 20yrs of boxing experience.

It doesn't need resolving and it will never be resolved, just because one MMA fighter beats one boxer or vice verse doesn't mean it will always be like that.

And also, I don't see the point in comparing, both sports can go on alongside each other, if you like MMA then great, if you like Boxing then great, if you like both then great, it doesn't matter. All this comparing bull**** is ******, just concentrate on the sport you personally like.
