"Yesterday I was lying, today I'm telling the truth" - Bob Arum
People still have this bizarre belief that boxing is about two guys fighting in the ring, and one will win if they outbox or KHTFO (yes, I have seen someone counted out and then still didn't lose the fight - Cintron/Martinez).
It's only about money for the people that aren't fighting. There wasn't anything in that fight in which you could have given Rios the rounds. He wasn't landing punches, he wasn't doing anything.
It's all about making a big money fight with Marquez. **** Abril's career and the years of dedication, hard work, determination, sweat, blood and tears that he's put into this sport trying to make a name for himself to get to the top and get a big fight to win and make his money for his family. He's not important to people like Arum, who are already millionaires.
But, the worst part? Nothing will happen. Nothing will be done. Nothing will change and Abril won't get anything. He won't win a title, he won't get a 50K bonus for a win, and he won't get any more big fights. What we saw was pure corruption at its finest. It wasn't subjective scoring. It was corruption. Pure and simple. It will be completely forgotten and ignored in a week and then it will happen again another time, then another time, then another time.....
