This.
You'd be surprised how people from Mexico really feel about people calling themselves Mexican and not speaking Spanish. I've gone to school in Mexico, speak/write spanish, and none of the Mexican side of my family consider me "Mexican". < __<... As the Mexicans would say "Ese guey es del otro lado". You either are or you aren't in many people's eyes.Comment

Rios is American but has Mexican heritage. Not sure why that's so hard to understand. This is the case with a lot of fighters in California, especially this generation and it's only only become the case more and more. This is no different than Victor Ortiz, Vicente Escobedo, Rocky Juarez and so on.
Eventually Mexican-Americans will just be viewed as Americans, like African-Americans. We look at guys like Floyd Mayweather, Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander and in boxing terms we all identify them as Americans. Same thing will happen with Mexican-Americans but since it's still newer some people get it twisted.Last edited by Check; 04-12-2012, 07:12 AM.Comment
