Definitely true but who is the opponent? Does the opponent truly take advantage of his size advantage? Taylor never had great understanding. His size advantage wouldnt mean as much as it should because he's going to fight smaller and he's not going to truly pressure Floyd or let his hands go alot
Floyd at 168 vs......

Nah, I didnt mean for a real fight. No one would want to see Floyd fight any of those guys except for maybe Froch. Just moreso talking about the weight and weather he could hang with some guysComment

Floyd is quick and has good defense, but that doesn't always translate as you move up in weight. Floyd is 5'8 and barely goes beyond a lean 149lbs, and we're talking him fighting solid 168lb, 6'2 elite fighters who are already contemplating moving up to light heavyweight?Comment

There was brief talk of him facing winky too at 154 after winky beat shane. Winky is the only guy I would pick to beat him at 154 and under that was an available opponent. Taylor he would loose to as well at that point. A lot of people think winky got shafted in that fight but Taylor still made it a close fight and winky was a strong guy so taylor would be too much for floyd then but with taylor being shot now thats a different story.I remember for a very brief moment, there was talk of Floyd Mayweather vs Jermain Taylor when Floyd was moving up to fight DLH at the 154 limit and Taylor was fighting Corey Spinks at 160.
Sometimes we look at the numbers on paper and think, "ok Floyd is fighting at 154, he can easily fight a MW at 160"...but that doesn't mean Floyd can effectively fight at that high a weight. He's not a big guy. Middleweights today are 5'11-6'3 with longer reaches and practically already drained to make MW. Floyd will come in at 149 for a 154lb bout.Comment

I think vs Froch he might have the best chance as Froch is a little off to me in regards to boxing skills and coordination....if we're speaking about hanging in thereComment

also have to take into account where these guys are now. Like Green & Taylor are pretty shot so it gives Floyd more of a chance. AA has had a few whoopings now so he's not the same guy. Johnson is 100 years old but he still probably is a very bad matchup for Floyd with his styleComment

He weighed in for the Ruiz fight at 193 and entered the ring at 199. More than 5=10 lbs. He was giving away over 25 lbs as well as carrying an extra 20 lbs.Jermain Taylor is garbage. Floyd could beat him but it would be ugly and people would complain about the fight afterwards. Floyd would be best served by moving a lot baldomir fight style which he hasnt done in a while and he is older now. Taylor is big and has power but his reflexes are shot, so it would be floyd moving from him and landing but floyd cant hurt him even though his chin is gone hes too big.
If roy jones beat ruiz, I dont see why floyd couldnt beat taylor of today. All he has to do is not get hit and taylors reflexes are gone.
He wont do it because it would be a terrible career move. Put on weight for a fight people dont want to see and if he does win then people will just want to see him fight other guys at 168 like ward who would be too much. Its like RJJ, beat ruiz, a guy picked for his style (and abc belt) and then drop back down to 175 after people want to see him fight lewis and mess up his body in the process (though not as much as people claim because he didnt put on 20 pounds but more like 5-10 pounds)Comment
