Paul Williams basically had a 50/50 fight with Martinez first time round (gave nod to Martinez) and he's just a wreckless big southpaw who throws 1000s of punches, that's a good fight to gauge how a Calzaghe vs Martinez fight would go.

Ward has beaten one dimensional guys over and over, i will grant you that he's been more dominant than sergio but sergio has shown more adjustments and versatility.

Ward is a top 7 pfp guy imo but he still hasnt ever fought the best 168lbers imo (which are bute and dirrell). Seriously. Kessler was a dn good win, but sergio has pavlik and pwilly as damn good wins.

Ward may not have Bute, but that's about the only top name he doesn't have. Kessler, Froch, Abraham may all be one dimensional but they're still some of the best guys in the division and extremely dangerous opponents. Ward beat them all like a drum.

Dirrell has not proved himself to be the best at SMW. Not by a long shot. He has speed and power, but he's mentally weak and stylistically flawed.

He's certainly not an opponent Ward has to fight in order to legitimise his position. He's already done that.

Bute is the only man left standing between Ward and total dominance of the SMW division.
