The last time I didn't a guy and didn't give him a chance, was Hopkins when he fought Trinidad. Anything can happen in boxing, and I think is going to be a good boxer that eventually beats Rios. We will see.

Great point. Richard's slight chance lies in a decision. He has no power; and from the little I know of him, Abril's got hard luck.

        he's a very solid boxer

as a youth he was on the cuban national team. guy had a very good amateur career. his losses were all disputed. i thought he beat lundy, and i had one of the best seats in the house. he knocked him down.
I've actually relied a lot on your input in forming an opinion of this kid, N.E. I've seen a little of Abril on YouTube, just enough to see that he's skilled and somewhat awkward. Richard doesn't have an exciting style. He probably deserves better, but he'll likely wind up having a gatekeeper-type career without having reached any heights. The more I learn of him, the more Richard gives the impression of having a craftsman-like attitude towards his career.

Lol Agreed, anything can happen...but I actually picked Hopkins to beat "Tito." The odds on Abril-Rios have to be a lot wider.

He has a slim chance, but anything can happen obviously

Same here. I've said the same thing a few times. I think Abril will do well...might even surprise a little. Richard won't win, but he can get some great exposure and another big fight down the road. Molina's career got a shot in the arm with his performance against Lara. Abril might just earn the same for himself. I think Richard is very aware of that. I think he sees this fight as a career maker/breaker. A competent fighter with that mindset can be dangerous.

And I'll tell you this, I watch those fights against Lundy and Prescott and he beat both of them, another thing he has power but he doesn't turn his punches enough and doesn't have that killer instinct...
