Was looking forward to seeing Pacino. De Niro's my second favorite though, but i'll pass on seeing it in theaters, i'll wait till it comes out on TV or something.

NYCsmooth, please dont quit your job to become a casting director. The sheer ignorance is astounding. Cannot believe you are complaining about Robert DeNiro, one of the greatest living actors in America, appearing in a boxing movie. Please check out a little movie called Raging Bull and report back to us on whether DeNiro can convincingly play a role. Just becuase he isnt a physical clone of Arcel means nothing. And Usher's scenes will mostly be in the ring and I am quite sure he can recreate Ray Leonard's footwork.

I'm just trying to figure out why are some idiots whining about Pacino dropping out and De Niro replacing him? Doesn't make a difference to me since both Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are great actors, you can't lose with either one of them!
Personally, I prefer De Niro since he would know more about the sport and is a lot closer to Arcel's height than Pacino!
Gael garcia bernal is a special and talented actor and would also be another gem for the project.
My only concern is Usher... hopefully i'm wrong and he has what it takes to pull it off on screen convincingly!

Yah same.... al pacino is a better choice for Ray arcel. But isn't duran a fan of de Niro? So maybe that could explain the change.

Gael Garcia Bernal will be great. I was looking forward to Pacino but DeNiro is good too, as long as he doesn't phone it in, which unfortunately he has been doing a lot of for a while.

I don't even want to think about Usher as SRL.

usher's getting ready. he might not look like ray but i don't think he'll be that bad. time will tell when the trailer and actual film comes out i guess.

De Niro is the man, my favorite actor of all-time. But he hasn't been a top or great actor in many years at this point. This movie will most likely be weak.

Oh and De niro > Pacino. Both are ATG Actors though. Pacino is better at leading the scene, taking charge of the scene. De Niro is better at reacting to the scene. After all, acting is reacting.

To the people whining on the cast selection, this is a movie about Duran.

Gael Garcia Bernal is one of the best actors around, he will no doubt put his all into the role. I don't see any better actor for the role to be honest.

As for Usher, i don't think he will have much of a part at all aside from the in-ring battles.

Also, De Niro is better then Pacino.

well this film isn't being directed by an american filmmaker, it's by a venezuelan guy named jonathan jakubowicz. i really doubt they'll have subpar writers like in righteous kill or some other crap films de niro has recently been in.
