That's where I'd like to see the fight
martinez is a naturally bigger and stronger guy than floyd. floyd would b stepping up n weight 2 fight him which also poses risk for himself. remember this is unchartered water for floyd. skills do pay the bills but if that is the only truth, then why have weight classes at all right? why not let 145 pounders fight 175 pounders too> lets make it fair. 154 or 155 is fair depending on how floyd feels at that weight against cotto. i think floyd wins that fight (not taking anything from cotto...i like him too)but we will then know how he feels at that weight. u c manny (of whom i am also a fan) makes people come down n weight also. fighters have 2 b careful moving up and down in weight. 2 or 3 pounds can make a big difference. i believe manny may have still beat cotto but it would have a different fight at 3 or 4 pds heavier.

no doubt that Floyd would land a lot of pot shots on Martinez, BUT, I think Sergio's lead straight left would land and hurt floyd. sergio would also be able to counter floyd's jab occasionally with his compact right hook that he punished P Will with in their first fight.
the truth is that martinez is not "a" class a fighter. he is pretty good but what makes this fight really compelling is that he has knock-out power and is a bigger and naturally stronger guy than floyd making it a more dangerous fight for floyd. manny wouldnt take the fight against sergio either. the only chance sergio has against floyd is by ko...the same with manny. manny (of whom i am also a fan) can NOT box with floyd. his only chance is a ko also. being that floyd is the bigger n stronger of the 2 along with his accuracy and allusiveness, it would b an embarrassment for manny and he could get ko'd himself comin in wild....too easy to hit as marquez showed. floyd can land heavy shots but doesnt throw as many b/c of a history of brittle hands. watch his fight against phillip ndou. unless hurt bad, he will make sergio look like he shouldnt even b n the ring with him. he will move around and b allusive for the first 5-6 rounds and begin 2 pot shot and frustrate sergio which will cause him to start lunging in and throwing wild looping shots or stop throwing b/c of fear of being embarrassed further. floyd adapts too well too quikly. the best fight for floyd woulda been against mosley about 3 or 4 years ago.

The irony of it all is that these same pac-tards said Mayweather would NEVER fight Mosley... and just as soon as Floyd did these pac-tards cried for months about how "old" Mosley was. Then cheered at how great Pac was for fighting Mosley a year AFTER Floyd did....

Now we have pac-tards crying about how Floyd won't ever fight Martinez and just as soon as the fight gets made will scream how old Martinez is... History just keeps repeating itself... Seen too many times over the years.

Does anyone think that Cotto could actually beat Floyd?

Hardly anyone thinks that and that dates back to when they both fought at 140 and under Top Rank. Hell, Bob wouldn't even allow it to happen even then.

Nothing has changed now other than Cotto is not fighting at 140. However he will still get beat, even as a JMW Champion.

i dont think i coulve said it better. i still have hope for that fight tho. tho both r two of my favorites, i want to see it so people who are fooled by the hype will really see that manny is not in the same league with floyd. his fights with marquez demonstrates this very easily. he has problems with fighters who have sound fundamental boxing skills and decent speed. he looked average and then good in spots against marquez (who is a really good boxer with plenty of heart). so what is he to do with floyd mayweather who made marquez look like he shouldnt even be in the ring with floyd. add that to the fact that floyd is bigger and stronger than marquez (easily admitted) and he is definitely quiker and has better timing than marquez also and what is manny gonna do with him? throwing a lot of combinations (b/c he is fast too) in hopes of confusing floyd or catching him with a lucky shot is all he can do. once floyd gets his (manny's) timing down, it is over. so he has maybe 4 or 5 rounds to win the fiight then its a long long night for my man. but i believe floyd will b the aggressor or presser just like in the ortiz fight. manny might even drop floyd but if floyd gets up from it manny is n BIG trouble (in little phillipine). i believe floyd can ko or tko manny...very seriously.

Martinez and Floyd at 154 would be amazing...that is THE fight that needs to happen. Pac can fight JMM for a 4th time or something....maybe fight Ortiz.
