Jorge Linares should hire trainer Nacho Beristain.

guys have worked their way back into the fight after something like that. many of them were great fighters. linares is not going to be one of those guys.

and it happened twice. there's more to it than simply being caught cold (which he was.) he cant take the punches well. and when he does take the punches he doesnt behave the way you want to see a fighter who is being touted as a potential great

i dont know how much more you guys need to see. i've made up my mind. i hope he proves me wrong, but i dont see the kid making it anywhere in this sport. he'll get knocked out again if he keeps fighting.

I don't know about that. Id pick Linares to totally outclass Rios.

He couldn't handle DeMarco what makes you think he can handle Rios who has more power?

Rios is slow and predictable. He gets a lot of credit for beating Peterson and Acosta. Peterson was a prospect and Acosta was a very predictable fighter like Popo Freitas.

I think he's overrated. I was hoping to see Gamboa ice him but for whatever reason that didn't happen.

He was still pretty green back then. It was really the first time he ever got handled like that. He got hit on the temple(side of the head, above the ear), not the jaw. That's what put him down, he then hopped up quickly. Most experienced fighters(ex: JMM), take their time and get up, regaining their marbles.

Linares jumped up quickly, got back into the fight quickly and get owned. That's green. That's like Ortiz to Maidana. Jumping right back up and getting owned(he quit though).

The DeMarco fight was an example of poor coaching. He was told nothing going into the 11th round. He wasn't told anything encouraging, let alone how to stay alive with the cut. So he went into the 11th, doing what got him in a tough spot in the first place. A guy like ****m would have adjusted and told him to box and move. Don't stand still and don't trade shots.

Instead Linares got drawn into the punch fest again and got the blood in his eyes, at which point it was too late to do anything about the blood. Besides stay blind and hope for the best.

The fight he just lost. Is different. Linares tried to do combos and flurries like Pacquiao and Khan. That **** got him clocked on the head with a major right that got him cut open.

I agree that he needs better defense but a coach can fix a fighter like Linares. Someone who boxes and uses their brain. Roach just ain't that guy, he focuses on high offense. As a result, Linares is training for high tempo offense. Someone like Nacho or Steward can reel him in and get him to adjust between rounds.

He has questionable punch resistance though(but also is unbalanced physically; big upper body, small lower body). I agree with that. Not chinny. He took the bum's shot on his chin better than Salgado's hook to the temple.
