Most of the basketball and football players in America don't actually finish school so them get a free education is misleading as most fail to take advatage of that chance.

Lennox should be the last to talk. While he did dominate the heavyweight division in his time he wasn't exactly a big draw nor had a appealing style. Early in his career he was was a vicious KO puncher. But the post Oliver McCall Lewis became a boring safety first type of fighter. His most exciting KO's were to Golata and Rahmn (who knocked him out in their previous fight).

It could be possible that the reason the American boxing is suffering at heavyweight is because a lot of big men are going to basketball or football (I doubt tennis players or golf players would top the list to transition to boxing), but on the other hand you can look at it another way: Soviet and former soviet countries weren't even allowed to fight at pro in the past, so maybe the reason there is success overseas isn't because American fighters are getting transitioning to other sports but because the talent pool from those countries are now allowed to take part in pro boxing...

He should watch some of his own fights, like the one with Tua, before talking about style. The only difference was his ego before and after the fight, everything in between was the same. Also I highly doubt the US is losing potential boxers to golf and tennis.

I know this may come as a shock to you, but many professional golfers are pretty big guys. I mean tiger himself is cut up like a ninja turtle..


I dont know if you have ever seen him in person, but he aint no small dude by far... Plus the MAJORITY NEVER GET A CHANCE TO MAKE IT PRO. I said this ages ago here on this very site, but people were like get outta here. I mean look at the time frame. When you go back to the 70's the big african american heavyweights were either playing football or boxing. Now the young studs are playing basketball. Look at Lebron James for instance. His athleticism and size would be deadly if he had the proper training in boxing, but he came out of high school and went into the pros....

Athletes make more money playing on a defensive line now than slaving away hoping one day to be a boxing super star.

Lewis should be grateful that people have forgotten how boring he was as a fighter.

I'm tired of people who are involved in boxing pretending that Wlad and Vitali both have the same style. Someone like Lewis should know better. Well he does know better, but he is in denial and it's been his mission in life to discredit Vitali any way possible for awhile now.

Reality is that Vitali is a more exciting fighter than Lewis was, throws more punches, holds a lot less. If you can't acknowledge that then you are quite simply full of ****.

Nope its because the average star in the NBA, is taller and more physically fit than a chisora etc. I mean have you guys been to NFL games, or NBA games?? These are some big ass dudes.... I remember standing on the sideline next to Leon Lett, and I he was like whats up lil man. I swear I am 6'1'' and I had to literally **** my head to the side a s you got the feeling this dude would ****ing murder you if he was pissed. Herschel walker etc. The African American athletes most definitely are into B-BALL... Proof of this is simply visiting a local YMCA and looking at the people that wanna box, versus the kids in the neighborhood that are filling basketball courts every weekend in the inner cities. I ball with em and some of these young cats are ****ckin huge!!!

One of my best friends is an NBA player and we went to high school together. 6'9'' AND 270 pounds. and can run his ass off. athletic as hell....

Bottom line is that no one gives a **** about what IFs...and potential. The fact remains that there aren't any good American heavyweights.

I really do not understand the logic behind that argument. If anything its nationalist/racist. "we americans are the best at anything, if we apply ourselves at it" its ******, plain and simple.

What if Le Bron was a boxer? Well he isn't so who gives a ****?

Oh yea and there are even more sport options in Europe than in America. Fact. No one talks about that.

If you know soccer, than you would have heard of Andriy Shevchenko. Was a very good boxing prospect in the amateurs but ended up playing soccer.

America does not have good heavyweights, and at the end of the day no one cares that they are "playing in the NFL".

The only reason people started talking about future American heavies being in the NBA is BECAUSE TWO 6foot7 Ukrainians came to dominate the division.
