I cannot tell you the greatest hispanic fighter ever but one thing I can tell you that Floyd Mayweather would beat them all.

So my question here is, if they don't consider filipinos Asian or Hispanic. What are they? For example on the Census survey what do they check off, Other? Or are they their own race, Filipinos...?

I personally DO NOT consider them hispanics.
        They are Asian.

That's exactly the point I was getting to. It's just that the chinese or japanese don't consider them asians, I heard.

There was not as much racial mixing in the Philippines as there was in Latin America. Fewer than 10% of Filipino's can claim any real Spanish/Latin heritage. they are mostly Asian. Spain's main influences were Catholcism and to some extent, language..

They have a Hispanic cultural influence but that does not make them Hispanic they are Asians.
Minimal? just culture, language, cuisine, religion.

They can be Hispanic and Asian.

Just as some can Caucasian and Hispanic.

There were once a lot of people from African descent in Mexico, they still are but because they have mixed with the people of Spanish descent and also the native people of Mexico, there presence is no always visable.

In countries such as Bolivia there are many people that are not from Spanish descent at all, but that is still considered Hispanic.

almost everybody is saying duran... so let me ask who becomes second to him?

then what about the 2000s? who was the best latino pugilist during that decade? theres plenty to choose from...

im not really well versed with the career of jofre, so i hope some knowledgeable poster comes across this thread and give insights about him...

I already knew the answer to this but I work with a filipino and decided to ask him just for kicks. He looked at me like I was a ****** and told me "we're asians."

                      His·pan·ic

                      adjective /hiˈspanik/

                      1) Of or relating to Spain or to Spanish-speaking countries, esp. those of Latin America

                      2) Of or relating to Spanish-speaking people or their culture, esp. in the US

Is the Philippines generally a Spanish speaking country? No

So how can they be Hispanic? Its an Asian country with Hispanic influence it also has influence from Arabs, Chinese, American and Japanese and it also has it's pre-colonial cultures that is similar to the Islanders.
