He's already considered the best anyway, but it would just eat away at all the haters that there's no one left.
But alas, even as a pac fan...i don't see where other pac fans come up with an imaginary precedent of pac beating a similar fighter as floyd and thus see him as a favorite? I've heard of liking fighters, but i've never heard of baseless obsessions over an as of yet, arguably untested welter (yeah, i said it) who's only meaningful fight has been a cotto..yeah, the same cotto floyd is now fighting at a higher weight that pac's team thinks he's too strong in and thus, must come down if he wants pac. Good enough for pac, i'm sure a heavier cotto should be more than good enough for floyd, right?
It's not just about the name on the resume, it's about when you fought that name, on your resume. This isn't 20 years after their careers have ended and we don't know any better. We all know clottey wasn't exactly coming off some stellar performance. Or cotto. Or shane. Or margo. Does juanma and his novela like performance with licar ramos count? People don't like to mention that our man pac likes to fight people coming off recent losses. Even morales (who many thought was already questionable due to wars with other fighters), pac only fought him after losses. I could be wrong, but if i recall, pac and morales didn't fight immediately, morales fought someone and lost, then fought pac again.
What about the second barrera fight. Didn't old ass barrera come off a loss from marquez? How did he earn a shot at pac?
timing is everything. Floyd has fought the same questionable fights, but he has fought them at better times in their career, coming off signature wins usually. It baffles me as to how pac somehow has a better resume than floyd in people's eyes. If it was a real resume, under the juanma fights, the description and duties would read "talk to my promoter". so before you think i'm just pac bashing, worry not. It's because i'm his fan (as a fighter) that i can criticize him and still be perfectly ok with that. Same thing with floyd. I talk crap about him all the time. But pac, as a measuring stick...he just doesn't measure up quite as well in the grand scheme of things. 20, 30 years from now when people don't know any better? If they don't fight? Feel free to plead your case. But remember, a lot of guys floyd fought were perceived as strong challenger until they were beaten.

Again how many fighters in their prime have fought six strong champions in a row? Now how many fighters outside of their prime have fought six strong champions in a row?
Look at present fighters.
Pacquiao- Marquez, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Cotto, Hatton.
Donaire- Vazquez, Narvaez, Montiel, Sidorenko, Marquez.
Bradley- Cassamayor, Alexander, Abregu, Peterson, Campbell
Marquez- Pacquiao, Ramos, Katsidis, Diaz, Mayweather.
Now take a look at past fighters.
SRL- Camacho, Norris, Duran, Hearns, Lalonde.
Hearns- Landberg, Long, Grant, Miller, Snyder.
Even if you look at their career whilst they were at their peak the level of opposition dipped from time to time.
As I said in my previous post publicly the statements don't look good, realistically it makes perfect sense and is perfectly reasonable.
