Usher To Play Sugar Ray Leonard In Movie 'Hands Of Stone' along with Robert De Niro!

Usher has been tapped to play boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming film Hands of Stone, the singer confirmed in an interview with BBC.


"I'm in preparation for a very incredible role," Usher said. "If you see me in the corners boxing, I'm doing that while working on this album."

Usher will star opposite Robert De Niro and Gael Garcia Bernal in the picture, which tells the story of another ring great, Roberto Duran.

De Niro is cast as boxing trainer Ray Arcell - who coached Duran to 18 world champions.

Leonard won championships in five different weight classes. He fought Duran on three separate occasions - winning twice.

No word yet on when production will start.

So.. I haven't followed this movie yet, De Niro gonna play Duran, he also played LaMatta, so if Robert can play both, Will Smith should also be able to, only that Smith don't look like no SRL. I see Usher as a potential in the appearance department, he gotta drop that weight though.

damn.. ppl are making this a way bigger deal than it really is. i cant stand usher and i think they could have found someone alot better than him to play SRL but its not gonna ruin the movie.

usher is a decent actor, nothing special but he wont **** up the movie. yall should atleast wait for his performance before you **** on the entire project. he will probably mostly be in the fight scenes anyways, which i think he will do fairly well in. cant do worse than the rocky films.

the movie is about duran and they found a great kid to play him, then they have pacino as arcel.. overall it sounds good to me.
