And I capitalised because I know your ******ed ass likes to highlight key words.
BARB will be putting up the ratings some time next week. Why would Sky announce the ratings? What do you think this is?

Still, Khan gets around 300k viewers fighting at 4 in the morning by UK time and can get another 100k with the next day replay. Froch managed around 300k when all's said and done and will likely smash Kell's numbers when he fights Bute in the UK. I ran through the history for F1 in 2011 and 2012 so far and they haven't popped up once on the top ten for Sky sports. They're literally getting beat by the NFL. I'm not trying to bash F1, since I really don't care about it either way, just putting out the idea that they're bigger than boxing. Boxing fans seem to have this idea that the sport is some niche little UK sport crying in a corner when in fact it's easily in and out one of the top sports in the UK. If it was on more terrestrial TV rather than completely confined to Sky sports it would be much bigger though.

The most watched cricket match this month had 390k viewers. One thing that gives boxing the extra edge is that the replays are actually counted into the over all viewers, so this will probably reach 800k viewers when all's said and done.

These are all available on the BARB website. Sky originally cancelled Formula 1 due to their low ratings on their network, they're taking a second swing at it now and apparently the results aren't much better. Football is the only sport that gets over 500k viewers reguarly. And as I said in the OP there have been reports about boxing matches getting over 1 million viewers so I don't know what this record stuff is about. There were some Haye and Calzaghe fights which pushed 1.5 million. I don't think there's any cricket match that has gotten that on Sky.

Although it has been said darts recent ratings on Sky have been pushing the envelope.
Im prety sure the ashes got high viewing back in 2009 and the final test in particular

ok, good numbers, but tyson fury fights on free tele on channel 5, and that gets millions of viewers cause of this. sky sports aint free, if it was, those numbers would be so much more.

Yeah I looked over it and some cricket events have been in the 500-800k range. Still no formula one though. I think Hearn pouring a little BS calling this a record. He used to gloat about getting over 1 million viewers for some fights ... now he's saying this is the record? Maybe he thinks "record" ratings sound better than "fifth most watched." Whatever though, when the replay numbers come in it will likely reach 800k.
