Why does he need to show respect to anyone? He's about to go to war and if he chooses to disrespect Erik, that's cool. If Erik doesn't like it, he will have a chance to do something about it.

I was just about to write something similar as what you wrote. He doesn't have to show respect to any of his opponent/s before the fight. Respect should be given after the fight. Morales is a legend of the sport, and you have give him the respect as one of those fighters who paved the way for other younger Mexican fighters, but at the same time, you have to show him that you're not going to lay down for anybody.
