Also, I think that first fight vs Williams Martinez showed us he can take some pretty good shots.
And all that stuff you pointed out might be exactly why Kirkland's body might not last too long in this sport especially if he starts getting KO'ed or being in wars like that one round with Angulo.
But you can strengthen your neck and endurance; which strengthens your chin and ability to recover from shots quickly.

You call Kirkland overrated, but Canelo doesn't or else he would've fought him already.

Martinez will eat up Kirklands pressure and smoke him so easily i would be shocked if it went past round 5.
Fancy that Molina vs Kirkland bet? You could double your points if you are right

be still, my heart
kirkland and martinez would be flippin anarchy
bedlam
and a blast to watch
perhaps only second to kirkland and floyd, who would make great theatre given the styles and the gap in size.
floyd would have to fight damn hard and it would bring the best out of him

I still want to see Kirkland-Alvarez and the winner fight Floyd. Probably just because I want to see Kirkland-Floyd so much.
On a side note, can't wait for Kirkland-Molina this weekend. Kirkland is just a different guy with Anne. I know he went down from a right hand against Angulo, but he got up and stayed in there. Weathered the storm and whupped Angulo's a$$. You can say "Angulo gassed" but Kirkland still had to survive that round and than turn the tide at the end of the round. Oh and he was in Angulo's backyard, and Alfredo was easily one of the most feared fighters in boxing at that time.
Kirkland-Sergio is just a bad match up of styles for Kirkland. I love how Sergio has absolutely zero interest in fighting Erislandy Lara, who whupped Williams.Last edited by 4Corners; 03-20-2012, 10:58 AM.

kirkland and alvarez would be a cant miss fight in terms of action
lara has certainly earned his stripes at this stage, but he and williams would probably make for a boring fight
two counterpunchers, southpaws, and two guys not used to fighting a guy who can deal with the speed.
i think they'd look at eachother all night and martinez would dance around the ring once in a while

I'd love to see what Canelo does under pressure in a big fight when he gets tagged by someone like Kirkland. We've seen evidence that Kirkland can bounce back while being down, just look at the Angulo fight.
I find it funny that Kirkland has to beat Angulo, Molina, and Vanes, to get his shot against Canelo. But, all Shane had to do was get whipped by Floyd, fight a draw with Mora, and get whupped by Pacquiao, and he's contending for a title at 154 now. How do you explain that???
If Canelo wanted to prove something, he should have fought Vanes after the Rhodes fight, and than the Cintron fight was okay to me for a quick stay busy fight last year. And he should have fought Rodriguez on the Floyd undercard. If he had those wins on there, he'd get more respect.Last edited by 4Corners; 03-20-2012, 11:03 AM.
