Comments Thread For: Martinez Remains…And Waits: Review and Ratings Update

There is sheer hypocrisy to it all. Sergio Martinez claims the big names won’t come up the scale to fight him…but ignores challenges from higher on the scale. He fairly claims divisional beltholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is ducking him…but his team isn’t interested in divisional beltholder Dimity Pirog’s calls.

Sergio Has A LOT Of Trouble With Guys His Own Size; Mosley, Barker, Macklin!

Hence why Sergio is always calling out the 147 pounders, to come up and meet him at a "catch weight".... YET, Sergio won't go up to fight a Bernard Hopkins at a "catch weight", AND B-Hop is 47!!! Sergio has had to pull out all stops to beat guys his size. He's dominated nobody but a inexperienced, blown up Paul Williams. Sergio is NO Marvin Hagler... he's NO Tommy Hearns....he's NO Sugar Ray Leonard. He's just a title holder which doesn't mean much these days, and he's on fight away from a tough middleweight that doesn't let him (Sergio) off the hook, and pounds him to quit. He sure loves to talk, so to create a paycheck, because his days as Champ are numbered.

Chavez Jr doesn't want any of Martinez. He even has his dad jumping in to tell Matinez to lay off.

Martinez calls out 154 champs at the same weight they fought why people are so offended by this is beyond me don't be mad @ Martinez for it if Ward and Bute do the same thing and call him out @160 its the same thing

Sergio says he can make 154, and he needs to go ahead and do so. Better fights there, and its his only chance of getting Floyd or Pac.

I'm mad at Martinez for calling them out when DiBella is saying 168 is too big for Sergio. It is hypocrisy. Now that Floyd is fighting at 154 again, he needs to go ahead and take the Sergio fight, I do believe that.

I think Macklin's downfall was knocking Martinez down.

Macklin was en route to possibly beating Martinez in a decision.

After Macklin knocked Martinez down, things went down hill from there.

Also, it really doesn't matter to me if Martinez fights Chavez or Pirog next. But I am kind of tired of hearing about Pirog who's sole claim to fame is a victory over a prospect in Jacobs. Get over it already. Pirog should be trying to make a name for himself in other areas if he can't get Martinez in the ring and stop living off the Jacobs win.

That said, my only complaint is the rankings at 154. I feel that Kirkland should be much much higher than #7. Sure he had a hickup against Ishida, but give the man a break. He's easily a Top 3 Junior Middleweight. His resume is better than Dzindruzic, Molina's and Canelo's. Once he beats Molina he deserve's to get some recognition and major title shots.

I thought Proska was supposed to be a "beast". ends up losing to Hope? I think that's the definition overrated.
