How many times are you gonna repeat that without any evidence? Not only can you not produce any, it sounds totally implausible. They didn't even wanna feature him in competitive bouts, and you're trying to tell us they wanted to showcase him against Manfredo. I thought we learned that the only way Manfredo makes it to HBO is as a patsy for a cash cow, which Pirog definitely isn't.

Lee is justifiable. Geale? Really, Lou? REALLY? lol. Gunna start calling him LoL Dibella. Pirog, while wanting to fight at home, bringing no fan base, or money...is a better challenge than Geale. I don't know why either of those two would be in the discussion if Lee was available, but that's boxing I guess.

I'd also like to add that the Manfredo/Pirog thing is hilarious. Come on, it's MANFREDO. Lol. All trolling aside, I wouldn't let a fighter fly down for just Manfredo...

Martinez should start making plans to fight either Lee or Geale, cause Bob Arum is sure not gonna let Chavez Jr. happen. Simple as that !!

          let's see

According to promoter Lou DiBella, there are ongoing to discussions for a summer/fall bout between Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-6, 20KOs) and undefeated WBO middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (18-0, 14KOs). DiBella is talking with Pirog's promoter Artie Pelullo of Banner Promotions. Most of Manfredo's big defeats have taken place at the super middleweight limit or in the first season of The Contender reality show. Manfredo has won six bout since the 2007 knockout loss to Sakio Bika. Pirog is looking for a recognizable name to make his ring return in the United States.

the whole Manfredo was to build up a Martinez fight. since HBO doesn't give a **** about Pirog, they have to put him on US TV or it's a no go. Sergio Martinez is HBO's ***** boy. I don't like it but HBO calls the shots with him.

Pirog was at the Barker fight and HBO didn't even mention him or the fact he was there. they did the same to Golovkin. HBO just doesn't like eastern europeans. if you don't like it ***** at HBO

dibella is a clown, seriously. "geale. he speaks english, you can promote him. i don't know." yeah, that sounds like a certain possibility. only reason he always brings lee's name up is cause he's irish and will bring a crowd in if it's on the east coast. how many times has lee, martinez, and mix been used in the same sentence together with dibellla? he's been saying lee for the longest yet it's never happened. i honestly don't think it should unless he gets a big win over someone, say sturm or quillin.
and this is all speculation from lou on the night of the fight. these are all quotes after the fight (before the actual post press conference i think), so don't take it too seriously. although, if geale is honestly considered, so should pirog, especially once he wins in may. golovkin and his promoter have already stated their biggest goal is to get a fight with sturm, and martinez would follow after. when quillin beats wright, i think he should get lee. winner of that then deserves a shot at martinez. not sure who martinez faces next though, if they truly want to fight 3 times this year. perhaps kirkland/molina winner if alvarez doesn't want to step up? not sure both sides would do it, gbp and dibellla.

I totally agree, Kirkland is supposed to be Canelo's mandatory but since he's fighting Mosley I doubt GBP has much faith in him. HBO does like the idea of Kirkland vs Martinez. I think they should do it if Chavez or Mayweather don't come up. anything is better than Lee or Geale.

100% right about the english thing. for HBO it's either english or spanish, they don't like to bring on other interperters, so it seems

Neither link says anything about HBO, try again. It was reported elsewhere it was for FNF. And it wasn't even clear Pirog passed, since Manfredo's very next fight was with Chavez. What, Manfredo needed a warmup for $10k?

And don't be talking about facts and linking to bn24

let me walk you through it

it's a well known fact HBO doesn't care for Pirog

Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!

HBO snubs him after the Jacobs fights. so from this and not even mentioning the guy when he was at a fight is another snub, don't you think?

Dibella is the one who offered the fight, does it make sense that he'd turn it down? so logically that means that Pirog is the one who most likely didn't want to take it.

                    http://www.maxboxing.com/news/free-a...about-the-belt

"If a fight with Martinez is not next, there are other options. For one, the network Martinez fights on, HBO, is not the only game in town"

so from this we can see that HBO isn't exactly warm to the idea of Pirog facing Martinez just yet.

but if the dots aren't connected enough just read something another poster on this site compiled.

                      these are facts.

Dibella has tried to get US exposure with Pirog. Pirog didn't want the Manfredo fight. hell, even Ishe Smith was willing to travel to Russia to fight him.

I'ts hard for the ball to be in someone's court who is not running the point, the harsh reality is the only ones who seem to care about my career is Team Smith and my family. That's a tough pill to swallow given I am coming off one of Showtimes best fights of the year (their words, not mine).

BTW when he says he'll fight him on Mars, it basically means he'll fight him in Russia.

Pirog just wants to fight in Russia, he won't risk a US trip unless it's for Martinez.

what if Martinez loses? HBO loses a fighter they've invested in and Pirog goes back to Russia never to return. maybe that's why they have ZERO interest in him, unless he becomes known, just a thought.

instead maybe Pirog should fight somebody to earn a shot at Martinez, because since his KO of Jacobs he hasn't done anything
