I have done a complete 180 on a Martinez-Chavez showdown.

Barker and Macklin are better than Chavez. More pertinent is that they boxed quite cleverly against Sergio. Chavez Jr boring forward with no defence or head movement will not pose Sergio any problems.

Barker has shown no indication whatsoever that he is better than Chavez Jr. None, Macklin IMO is better than Barker but another guy who I don't think is better than Chavez. I would agree that he is just as good. But, a different type of fighter.

I do agree that stylistically they fought a different manner to what Chavez Jr will fight Sergio in therefor Martinez might have an easier time. I mentioned that prior if you read it. But, neither of those 2 guys posses the size that Chavez has nor I'm sure they posses the stamina. Which all favors Chavez against Martinez.

Glad to see people coming around. It's a good fight no matter what non boxing fans think.

The fact is, if Martinez can't land Mayweather @ 154 + (a big pay day) than he should fight Chavez jr (a solid pay day) and then move up as Chavez is a big MW and if he can man handle Chavez like I think he can, it would be a good test for Martinez to move to 168 and be the under dog vs bigger guys and finish his career.

I joke around dissing Martinez from time to time, but I never understood why people thought Macklin was a **** fight.

Macklin is a pretty good fighter, IMO, and not only showed it last night, but also in the Sturm fight. Now is Macklin a world beater.....probably not, however dude is a really solid fighter, and comes to fight.

I also thought Dzin was good, but the only problem with that fight was given Dzin's style, I felt team Martinez took this guy on at his absolute worse. Dzin was out for a long damn time and his timing etc was off (how could it not be) and was really rusty going into the Martinez fight.

But, does that really mean anything now? Murray gave Sturm a tough fight. Who could be JCC Jr next opponent. Sturm claim to fame was Oscar years ago. Then he went 1-1 with Castillejo. I think out of all the MW title holders Sturm might be the weakest one.

I honestly agree with you on this comment and the entire thread. I don't think Sturm is a world beater nor do I think Macklin is as well.

Barker wasn't a good fight, IMO, and it's funny for him to take that fight while criticizing other fighters opponent selection.

Maybe the first Williams fight because Sergio wasn't fully prepared. And both of those guys are clearly infinitely better than Chavez. A smart boxer with a good defence and a consistent jab can beat Sergio. Not some unskilled, come forward figher with no defence.

I dont know how last night's fight lead you to believe more in Chavez?
