I have done a complete 180 on a Martinez-Chavez showdown.

At first I was really against this fight. I thought it was a garbage match up. And, that would have been 3 whack ass fights in a row for Martinez. And, a guy on Martinez level shouldn't be having 3 weak fights in a row. That was my line of thinking. That it was a complete mismatch.

But, Chavez is better than what I originally gave him credit for. I thought he was crap. But, he is not terrible. And, Martinez isn't on the level of the elite fighters like I thought he was. When I think of elite fighters, the names of Floyd, Pac, JMM, Ward come to mind. Martinez isn't on that level.

So it's a fight that I am interested in now. And, I think it should happen. I understand that Chavez is on the come up and still learning his craft. But, this isn't as big of a mismatch that I originally thought it would be. I still favor Martinez. At this stage he is much more developed as a fighter IMO. And, stylistically with Chavez style, coming forward opening himself up allowing Martinez to land his quick counter shots repeatedly makes me think Martinez will take it. However, with Chavez stamina, chin, pressure and size I think could make things interesting. So I'm for this fight now.

I don't know, I'm interested in it now. Before last night I was saying it was a **** fight. But, Martinez hasn't looked impressive in his last 2 fights. I don't think either Barker nor Macklin is better than Chavez. And, I don't think either posses the size or the chin that Chavez posses. Still favor Martinez handily. But, I'm interested in it now.

chavez would have all he could handle against macklin let alone martinez. If he hasn't got the balls to fight lee why even talk about martinez? Its not happening any time soon

Barker and Macklin are better than Chavez but thats not saying much.

More pertinent is that they boxed quite cleverly against Sergio. Chavez Jr boring forward with no defence or head movement will not pose Sergio any problems.

I joke around dissing Martinez from time to time, but I never understood why people thought Macklin was a **** fight.

Macklin is a pretty good fighter, IMO, and not only showed it last night, but also in the Sturm fight. Now is Macklin a world beater.....probably not, however dude is a really solid fighter, and comes to fight.

I also thought Dzin was good, but the only problem with that fight was given Dzin's style, I felt team Martinez took this guy on at his absolute worse. Dzin was out for a long damn time and his timing etc was off (how could it not be) and was really rusty going into the Martinez fight.
