154 is the junior middle weight limit. So by definition it could not be classified as a catch weight.

DiBella seems desperate! Represent your fighter a little better than that man, geez. I can understand wanting to get him in the public eye and a payday but at what price??? Very disappointing.

PS...Also he should give Cotto a little more credit than that ,damn. Talking about the guy like he's chopped liver.

If you were working out of a janitors broom closet and calling it an "office", and your biggest fighter was a complete PPV failure, you might be getting desperate too.

Extremely well said. I hate when so called "boxing fans" overuse the term of catchweight when it involves a recognized limit for a division; and in this example you hit the nail, 154 is the jmw limit so therefore is NOT a catchweight. Good reply post to that smart a$$.

Floyd should agree for Martinez to weigh in @ 150 so when he rehydrates he doesn't go up to 174. That's only fair so I expect the agreed upon weight to be 150-154.

Yep exactly , I think they are doing a 145 ODH if they try and take Sergio down to 150 , you wont know for sure until fight night and how his body is , but here now and looking at Sergio 8 lbs heavier last night , cant see him healthy at 150 , Floyd will beat him no problems at 150 .

They push for this with those kind of figures Floyd will take it ! I got a feeling May would have been interested at 154 but now Dibella is shooting his mouth off he is only handicapping his own fighter .

The contractual weight agreement between different weight class fighters is what defines CW .

It is a CW because its an agreed upon middle ground between fighters of a higher or lower division , a CW does not have to be an odd weight , it only has to be lower or higher than either and its the contract that has an agreed weight .

Riiiiight... just like the guy who said he'd take the lesser share just to make the fight happen with Mayweather.

Wrong, wrong and even more wrong. Floyd is fighting Cotto at 154. Floyd fought at 154 against Oscar years ago. Sergio fought at 154 not but 3 or 4 fights ago when he blasted Williams off the set. Sergio had his 154 belt stripped by a 10 day mandate to either keep the 154 green belt or keep his newly acquired 160 green belt after beating Pavlik, BUT was told he couldn't keep both. And 154 has a name, it's called JUNIOR MIDDLE WEIGHT/SUPER WELTER. So you can throw up all this other window dressing and smoke-n-mirrors about contracts and agreed weights; e.g. Catchweights, but you are putting lipstick on a pig if you try to convince anyone that 154 is a catchweight for Floyd & Sergio. Now if this was at 157, yeah call it a ****** catchweight; 151 same thing. But at 154, no sir, not a catchweight! No matter how much b.s. you try and spin about contracts, terms, a scale moving up or down, etc...I repeat, 154 is not a damn catchweight. Good try though.

DiBella is confident that Mayweather will defeat WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. DiBella told BoxingScene.com that Martinez is willing to accept a financial split of 80-20 for a Mayweather fight, and Martinez would drop down to a catch-weight of 150-pounds.
