Its a pick'em fight IMO. Rios just seems insanely strong at 135. This fight will happen at 140.

So who knows how he'll look.
I think that the higher weight servers Marquez when he is on the right weight program. When he fought pac, he came in on fight night at like 147. He seemed to be able to take punches much better and wasn't top heavy like he is in the lighter weight classes. I think it would be a good war.

would this fight be at 140? cause isn't marquez fighting for a belt next? so it would be at 140 obviously right? it should, bam bam is too big for 135.
yea i've thought of that too, but I think they'll be forced to throw in the towel..

since Rios other corner man really cares about him.. he was literally crying when Acosta almost stopped him, but who knows.
I probably don't want the fight to happen because I know Rios has a real shot lol

it'll definitely be @ 140. So when Marquez gets the wbo Interim belt and gets bumped up to full champ after Bradley vacates. Rios can fight Marquez for the title.

....in that case we should really not favor him over anyone... because hes 39.
which means he's old and is probably going to age overnight ..despite no evidence pointing towards that at all..... even if the guy he's fighting almost got stopped by a lesser fighter and is tailor made for his style...
I'm not saying JMM shouldn't be favored, but his encroaching age is an increasing cause for concern. Age-related declines don't always happen gradually. I know forty is the new thirty, but c'mon.... lol

Rios is a beast. If he catches Marquez on the night he starts the inevitable decline...well, it could get ugly. On a historical basis, "Bam Bam" couldn't carry Juan Manuel's jock-strap; but time has a way of humbling the mighty....

Rios needs a couple of more fights to reach that level, wouldn't be good for him right now. It took Marquez long to get to the level he's at today, he's probably looking for better fights to add to is legacy.

so make the rios-marquez fight for a title? aren't they making guerrero-aydin for a title and a bunch of other ****** fights that make no sense.

What's wrong with beating an assassin much younger than yourself? Given JMM's apparent outlook, he's not going to remain in the game for long. He's not waiting around, I don't think.

Guarantee you Rios will get stopped by his corner throwing in the towel in the later rounds.
Rios doesn't swarm like Diaz ...he won't land on Marquez enough to stop him or hurt him. I doubt he'll even go down in that fight.
I think people forget how hurt Rios was in the Acosta fight. Marquez would have stopped Rios in that situation.

But its still a tough fight for Marquez but definitely winnable. I hope Garcia learned his lesson from letting Margarito take that beating against Pacquiao. That fight finished his career and I lost respect for Garcia that night.
Buddy did a great job tonight not letting Macklin take any unnecessary punishment tonight. That what a good corner does.

I see what your saying, there's nothing wrong with that. But i say Marquez is waiting for the right match up to retire to, and i don't believe it involves Rios. And Rios needs more fights.

who was crying? and was it on video? but yeah, marquez/rios isn't a bad title fight, granted neither have fought at 140 before. perhaps the winner of that fight could face the winner of morales/garcia. what a showdown that'd be.

and yeah, you're right. rios is the toughest 135 lber around, and could possibly be a top 140 lber if he decides to move up (it's about time).

Sorry to budge in but you brought up an excellent point...what would be the perfect opponent for JMM to end his carreer with..? On some "broche de oro" scenerio.
