Why don't you go watch that JCC jr. Zbik fight again. Watch how Zbik was landing some of the straightest, prettiest power shots on Chavez at will in that fight. Now, increase Zbik's speed by 20% and triple his power (Zbik makes iron boy calderon look like a power puncher). You have Martinez. Martinez is going to just kill JCC Jr. Just kill him. that's not to say Martinez is a great middleweight champion. he isn't. He's way to small to have held up against some of the great guys from the past. But Chavez is crap. Again, watch Pavlik vs. Rubio. That was an ass-whipping extraordinaire. Then watch JCC Jr. v. Rubio. Not all that impressive was it? Pavlik, a pretty limited fighter with good power and a good chin, is simply a tougher fighter than JCC Jr. (and would kill JCC Jr. too). Martinez took his belts.

No. Im saying Chavez not fighting Martinez is not about Chavez's lack of courage but Arums unwillingness to risk his cash cow when it's not necessary for him to do so. I dont like It as a fan but I understand its not as simple as just Chavez being a coward.Comment

I feel the need to comment on your lack of knowledge. I dont know what that picture of sergio's steroid factor is all about. Is it because he is an older fighter and developed some power? Anyway sergio has fought a lot of good fighters. You might no know who Dzinyurik is but he is a good fighter. Zbik hit chavez 1300 times and lost the fight? I weigh 135 and I hit harder than zbik. Not hating on the man just saying in terms of caliber of opponent, JCC is the master of tomato cans. Martinez beat cintron back when cintron was someone to be respected. And everyone may disregard the punisher now but paul williams was not someone to mess with until sergio knocked him out. You have to do more than just look at wins and losses. Macklin is a real fighter.Comment

Chavez is a decent fighter but...
Chavez is a good fighter but who has not fought anyone of any significance. He is definitely not a champion of anything and he is not even in the top 5 of the Middleweight divsion.Comment

Arum works for Chavez, not the other way around. Chavez has a promotional contract with Arum but ultimately it's the fight who calls the shots
the problem with too many fighters today is is that they hide behind their promoters. Chavez is a coward for not demanding that this fight be made.
why wouldn't he want to fight Martinez unless he was afraid of losing? If you have a "champ" who's afraid of losing then he's a coward. I could understand if Chavez was out trying to unify the divison
but here the thing, Chavez hold the WBC title at 160 and at some point he's going to have to follow the rules of the WBC. Martinez is the mandatory challenger as stated by the WBC at their last meeting in Vegas. Martinez is also should have been award an immediate shot at Chavez because of his champion emeritus status. those are the facts, Chavez is actively DUCKING his mandatory challenger. Chavez doesn't have to fight Martinez but if he wants to keep his strap he'll eventually have to, or is he above the rules because he is a Chavez?
personally I think if Martinez beats Macklin, Chavez will vacate the title and move up to 168 within a week. the WBC will find away to strip Andre Ward and Chavez will fight Pavlik for the 168 WBC title.Comment

Julio Cesar Chavez is the undisputed middleweight champion of the world, the best middleweight since a prime Hagler and the baddest man on the planet. The people - I'm talking about the people, here, who tune in their hundreds of millions around the world and flock to his fights, not a bunch of internet **********rs - know that the only thing that scares Chavez about Martinez is being arrested for manslaughter.
45 have tried and 45 have failed. You can run Sergio, but you can't hideComment

45 men better than Martinez thought the same and 45 men now wake up in cold sweats screaming "No Mas, Chavez!"
That's why Martinez has been fighting drunks, bums, part-time janitors and 147lb goatfarmers while ducking Chavez for three years. The man is not as dumb as he looks; he knows Chavez would retire him in three rounds and $3m+ is not worth your health.
