We're all just speculating here. It's fun, until someone starts asserting that one party or the other is to blame without knowing all the facts. That said, the above seems a plausible scenario. It appears that Gamboa is claiming his contract was not valid, based on expiration. There is word that Yuri agreed to extensions with both Top Rank and Arena Box. It's quite possible that he initially agreed; then someone pointed out to him that he could opt out if he wanted to, based on a misstep by the promoters. (Perhaps Mayweather put the bug in Gamboa's ear, as many suspect, but apparently Yuri's new lawyer gave it his blessing.)

So you think TR is foolish enough to file a case in court without any proof of a signed fight contract and other signed documents and contract related to the fight? How old are you dude?

Gamboa did not sign a fight contract. Top Rank officials have already admitted as much. But this is standard industry practice. The issue has been discussed ad nauseam.

I'm no lawyer, but even I know that signed contract is an easy in and out case. A verbal contract is much more difficult to prove, you guys act as if this is an open and shut case. Top Rank has human beings working there, and the last time I checked we all make mistakes.

It's doubtful this is as open-and-shut as some people think. Both sides are lawyered up the a$$. And all you're reading here is TR's lawsuit - of course they're going to throw everything plus the kitchen sink at Gamboa. Doesn't mean it's all going to stick.

I just hope Yuri's lawyer is as on top of things as he seems. He must have given him the g ahead with this which would suggest it's not the ****** decision that some people are saying.

What we're gonna get from here on is Top Rank throwing all their weight into bad talking Gamboa, they know how to control the opinion of many through PR nonsense, as we've seen in the never ending Pacquiao-Mayweather saga.

It appears that floyd has just played a part in ending gamboa's career and loosing his biggest payday ever, so now will floyd give gamboa money is he ask for it?

For idiocy they are supremely oblivious to the fact that they're defending someone who has reneged on a lawful contract properly executed.

It seems that everyone who has any dealings with Mayweather becomes tainted in some way.
It also loos as if Top Rank could be awarded large consequential/special damages, which could be deducted from any purse he earns for the next years, until paid in full with interest added. He really seems to be in a mess. If he has smart and not self-serving lawyers, they will advise him to come to an agreement with Top Rank either to work out his contract and recmpense them, or buy his contract out, finding a guarantor for the full amount owing. This latter will not be easy to find.

As an interesting matter, from the published details of the Top Rank specifics, it looks as if Top Rank has become senior to Arena Box, since the Top Rank agreement has to be observed irrespective of anything contained in the Arena agreement.
And how do you know it is a lawful executed, because uncle Bob, I was lying yesterday but I'm telling the truth today say so?

Same thing PAC did when he took 500k advance from GBP and then turned around and signed with TR. GBP sued him in federal court and now receives 5% of his fight purses...
