The only problem with that is Mayweather fights guys he knows he can beat. If Gamboa follows JR in that line of thinking then he will be just fine, won't lose and have an undefeated record

    however

Greats like SRL had eye problems

The GREATEST was out for 3 years !!!!! Before that time, Cassius Clay was absolutely the greatest fighter to ever lace up gloves, just from memory as a boy, Brian London didn't lay a glove on him, but that is beside the point, when Clay became Ali and that bad period in life came with the vietnam war, Ali not going to fight for the USA, the greatest lost something when he got back into the ring.

    Same with Tyson

Same with all greats who fight all comers.

Jr ,hahahaha, he don't fight all comers he makes up his fights to keep up dat pay check , so you just can't count dat mang.

Gamboa will lose something if he is off, he is too old to be off

Couldn't agree more, he knows how to handle almost any situation and play the audience. Even when you think you have a handle on him, he still pulls out the odd surprise. Gamboa really isn't the right guy to try and outwit Arum, bad move & check mate for now.

Hang on, now they are saying Gamboa's contract with Top Rank has already expired?

        I hope that is true.

After reading this part, I just asked myself WTF IS GOING ON HERE REALLY?

That's great news. . . I really hope it's not valid. . That's why I just saying Im hoping his lawyers know what they're doing, or otherwise Im sure they would have never advised him to go about it like this. . .

Really hope he can get it sorted, and get back in the ring to make the best fights for us fans ASAP (while doing what is best for him as well).

also....i mentioned that fighters have sat out in their 30's before and came back with no problems.

and what scientific proof do you have that smaller men get older faster than bigger men? Because thats what you are essentially saying.
LOL,,, I GET YOU Mang,, you think its better to duck a great pay day and a possible extra 100 grand plus world wide exposure in the greatest fight of the year that would propel him in to startdom ?

I got my proof from that 5 and dime test tube the other day !! Get outa here mang ! LOL

                why?

because if TR has a case specifically for the 4/14 fight where they can show money lost from a Gamboa cancellation you don't think they will find someway and somewhere to recoup that money lost from 4/14?

that in addition to what he is obligated contract wise to Top Rank

so since you think you know what's going estimate to me how much you think it would take for a company to buy out Yuri's contract knowing the above?

then compare it to his actual worth

and then ask yourself again whether someone would take a chance on an exciting yet not crowd inducing fighter with a world of debt because of his actions

                again you sound horribly naive
sue the pants off of him for what?..nobody knows the facts except for what has been said in random articles. Have you seen Gamboas contract? Do you know the factual details or are you just reading articles like the rest of us? Have you spoke with Gamboas legal team in regards to their defense in this case?

Gamboa himself said he didn't sign a contract to fight Rios.....so are we to believe Bob Arum or Gamboa?

YES he can sue him for the damages caused by the 4/14 fall out but thats not going to prevent him from fighting again within the year.

again, you sound just as naive as I do because you haven't seen any actual contracts or know the FACTUAL particulars of the case. All you have is ARUM said this & Gamboa said that....

what evidence do you have about this lawsuit other then the information that has been provided through the boxing media?

I would indeed make a seperate thread for this dude, just so people who don't read through all the pages get a look.

This would be a big turn of events.

Also just because Top Rank is suing Gamboa doesnt mean his career will be put on hold for a a year or two. Some punitive damages for promotional costs? His contract will get bought out and he will leave.

Also...all we have heard is from Top Ranks side....we have yet to hear anything from Team Gamboa or Gamboa legal team.
you're kidding me right? I bet you didn't even know there was a term as a hardship fight until I taught you it. Judges usually will grant it if and only if the fighter shows a depletion of funds to where his livelihood is compromised. It's not a guarantee as there have been much smaller cases where fighters are denied that fight I just used two of the more prominent cases

his career will be on hold until the case goes forward resolved and damages have been award

tell me Einstein how does that process take? court cases get locked up in courtrooms for years sometimes

my guess is that TR will go forward with their suit, Gamboa will try and be defiant, in the end they will realize they have no case and try and settle.

and also if you think any promoter in the world would willing pay for Gamboa's fees you really are not the brightest bulb

TR would sue the pants off of any promoter interfering with this case

Pretty much been the story of boxing for the past few years. . .

Ever since the GOlden Boy/Top Rank cold war. . . They need to both just eat their damn egos and settle that shyt up. . . But how naive to ever think a promotor would put boxing, and especially boxing fans first.
