Of course if Gamboa doesn't want to fight, he doesn't HAVE to fight. . . Courts have said that smacks of involuntary servitude. . .

However, he won't be able to fight under anybody else until his contract expires, or he is released, current pending litigation notwithstanding.

I don't have a problem with HBO, and I hope that HBO doesn't have a problem with me either because everything that's happening with me, I didn't choose to be in the position I'm in right now.

But this is the time to do this, because if I don't stand up for myself, nobody else is going to do it. I never thought that things would wind up this way, but there was never a contract and there was never a signature from Gamboa agreeing to fight with Brandon Rios on April 14."

This is from Gamboa himself^^. All that we are hearing is from Top Rank & Arum. I don't believe Gamboa ever said he signed an extension. If he did say that then I obviously missed that article.

Im guessing that Gamboa's lawyers know what they are doing, and since we don't really know the exact terms of his contract(s), nor the entire facts and circumstances, we'll just have to wait and see where this goes. . . Maybe they saw something in the contracts whereby they can get him out, and fighting soon. . . Just don't know. . .

??? FOR one we miss out on a great fight.

Two this is a waste of prime, Gamboa is already 30, and in his prime, plus as a smaller fighter prime leaves earlier.

He will not be in top competition this year

I think this is what us, the people supporting Gamboa, are staying optimistic about and hoping for.

no its not its outlined CLEARLY today

                TR to sue Yurorkis Gamboa

seems simple to TR's plans for Yuri

they're not sitting him they're suing him

                BIG DIFFERENCE

so he has to sit while this happens. He might be able to take a hardship fight (which Ghost Guerrero and Vic Ortiz both exercised at one point) but that's it until his matters are settled

no subjectivity there I am using TR's words plus what I KNOW historically on how this has worked in the past

Or did they know and proceeded with the press conferences anyway?

(I couldn't track down the threads, otherwise I would've provided links.)
They had to have known that Gamboa was not happy. People in his camp knew and this spread to people such as Cubanborn87, there's no way in hell these things didn't make it back to Top Rank.

I can see them saying " ok lets go on with the Miami presser and see if he shows" but to go on to another city AFTER Yuri said he wasn't going to show up is laughable!

If doesn't matter if he didn't have a contract for the Rios fight, he is STILL under Top Rank Promotions - that is the two-year extension TR claims. . . And supposedly a contract with Arena Box through 2016.

He won't be able to fight under any other promotional banner unless he either gets released, or somehow finds a loophole. . .

I agree with this.....I never wanted to see Rios-Gamboa anyways. I wanted to see Lopez-Gamboa. Also I have seen boxers get stuck in contracts that weren't good so as a fan of "fighters" and not "promoters" I want to see what the REAL details are, because id rather see him fight for his freedom and be a motivated fighter than fight for a promoter that isn't compensating him for his value or worth. Gamboa obviously doesnt feel right with his contract/money situation so i am going to stay on Gamboas side until more details come out.

Trust me, this is a money thing. Im sure Gamboa is already pissed at Arum for keeping the Lopez fight from him while some 10 loss journeyman gets the praise for dismantling Lopez.
