If anybody remembers when Mayorga was trying to fight that MMA dude, Don King stepped in and filed an injunction because he still had a valid contract with Don King. . .

Could Don King MAKE him fight? of course not. . . However, it prevents him from fighting under ANY OTHER promotional banner for the duration of that contract.

TR knew Gamboa wasn't coming to the press conference, so they had to improvise something immediately to save the day. The show must go on so they plucked Abril out from nowhere to create a stir. Arum may be a scumbag but he knows his business very well. You can't help but marvel at his keen anticipation of things to come and his well-timed respond to them.

no they will sue the pants off of him

and that right there will scare every promoter off of him

        why?

because if TR has a case specifically for the 4/14 fight where they can show money lost from a Gamboa cancellation you don't think they will find someway and somewhere to recoup that money lost from 4/14?

that in addition to what he is obligated contract wise to Top Rank

so since you think you know what's going estimate to me how much you think it would take for a company to buy out Yuri's contract knowing the above?

then compare it to his actual worth

and then ask yourself again whether someone would take a chance on an exciting yet not crowd inducing fighter with a world of debt because of his actions

        again you sound horribly naive

Gamboa is still basically a nobody in the big scheme of tihngs. . He's big amongst us real hardcore fans, but the mainstream doesn't really know him. . He was just now starting to break into the million dollar paydays. . . Still a year or two away from being a PPV fighter. . .
This is true that PBF & SRL were already established, I was just pointing out that whether they were established or not they were still in their 30's.

Also if he wants to make the move to Golden Boy/Mayweather promotions then i am sure his finances will be covered for the legal battles that will be coming.

Two this is a waste of prime, Gamboa is already 30, and in his prime, plus as a smaller fighter prime leaves earlier.

He will not be in top competition this year
ooooooh i get it...so its ****** that Gamboa wants to better HIS situation and not remain in a slave contract just to appease you?

also....i mentioned that fighters have sat out in their 30's before and came back with no problems.

and what scientific proof do you have that smaller men get older faster than bigger men? Because thats what you are essentially saying.

Also I have seen boxers get stuck in contracts that weren't good so as a fan of "fighters" and not "promoters" I want to see what the REAL details are, because id rather see him fight for his freedom and be a motivated fighter than fight for a promoter that isn't compensating him for his value or worth. Gamboa obviously doesnt feel right with his contract/money situation so i am going to stay on Gamboas side until more details come out.

Trust me, this is a money thing. Im sure Gamboa is already pissed at Arum for keeping the Lopez fight from him while some 10 loss journeyman gets the praise for dismantling Lopez.

I agree completely. . Heh, Im just letting my emotions get the best of me cause I was so pumped for Gamboa/Rios. . . I can't really say anything because I don't know Gamboa's situation. Why didn't you want the fight yo? I think we all now know Gamboa would either dismantle Juan Ma, or simply box his ears off for 12 rounds. .

I agree 100% that the fight should have been made after they both beat Mtagwa . . . It should hvae been enough of an indication by the way Juan Ma barely survived.

Hey guys, head on over to The Ring and read the newest article on Gamboa. I didn't wanna make a new thread but maybe I should've. People need to get some insight on this.

"But I think that the evidence will show that the promotional contract between Gamboa and Top Rank has expired, and that there clearly was never any agreement to fight the Brandon Rios fight. The original promotional contract that Gamboa signed has expired, and then the contract that Top Rank is operating under with Gamboa is not valid."
                  http://ring tv.craveonline.com/blog/171911-rios-gamboa-is-off-but-rios-still-aims-to-fight

After reading this part, I just asked myself WTF IS GOING ON HERE REALLY?

                      TR to sue Yurorkis Gamboa

seems simple to TR's plans for Yuri

they're not sitting him they're suing him

                      BIG DIFFERENCE

so he has to sit while this happens. He might be able to take a hardship fight (which Ghost Guerrero and Vic Ortiz both exercised at one point) but that's it until his matters are settled

no subjectivity there I am using TR's words plus what I KNOW historically on how this has worked in the past
So if he takes a hardship fight that means he WONT actually be sitting out right?

Also just because Top Rank is suing Gamboa doesnt mean his career will be put on hold for a a year or two. Some punitive damages for promotional costs? His contract will get bought out and he will leave.

Also...all we have heard is from Top Ranks side....we have yet to hear anything from Team Gamboa or Gamboa legal team.
