The winner gets first crack at Mayweather - per the WBC - once released, but Mayweather will retain the full WBC title, for now.

from what i understand, interim fights should happen when the champion is unable to fight due to injury or legal troubles...floyd is fighting on may 5 so it should'nt qualify him as a chmapion whos unable to fight at the moment.. i think it's a lil bit premature to have interim fights...

Wow. I mean, I wouldn't mind if the winner of Aydin-Guerrero fought Alexander for the title later in the year, but this is bulls**t. I knew Floyd would get stripped and all evetually because he's fighting at 154, but this still surprises me.

Floyd isn't fighting Guerrero until he at least beats an Alexander, Khan, Berto, or Ortiz.

At least one good thing comes from this, we'll probably see Amir Khan vs. Robert Guerrero for Guerrero's WBC title later this year or early next year. Assumming Khan were to beat Peterson and Guerrero beats Aydin of course. I've always though Khan-Guerrero would be a really tough fight for Amir.
