There has been some very overrated wins in boxing. I will mostly stick with the modern era because it is more fresh. Which one do you guys think was the most overrated.
Bernard Hopkins over Trinidad.
Hopkins was a LHW tricking people in a MW's body. Trinidad was a powerful punching Weltherweight. Despite what many boxing pundits thought there was just no way Tito could have overcome such a strength and size disadvantage. People try to justify the fact that Hopkins was a 'middleweight', but Hopkins always look way too tight stretched as a MW, he was just a natural LHW because of his cardio and living habits can marsquerde as a middleweight for such a long time.
Pacquiao over Morales
Pac was the new king of the jungle, Morales was clearly faded and on his way out. It don't matter how good of a performance morales put up, this was no where near a peak or prime Morales and Pac fans been making too much of a deal over those wins.
Roy Jones Jr over Bernard Hopkins
Overrated as hell, people always tend to add the Hopkins victory on top of Toney's saying Jones beat the 'two best of his era'. That Hopkins was green as hell and arguably 8-10 years FROM prime peak status.
Ali over Foreman
Got to put this old time classic in there, listening to god damn documentaries and people talk you will think thatAli just tricked big ****** george for the entire fight until 'dumb george' tired himself out and got knocked out. That wasn't how the fight went at all. George won at least half the rounds and was putting a beating on Ali, the 'rope a dope' was half trick but half ali being seriously hurt and battered. It was a great fight from both fighters.
Foreman over Moorer.
Similar situations, people think old Foreman just 'set a trap' he didn't set anything, moorer got too open and got knocked the **** out by old man foreman. It was just a matter of a lucky opening happening and george taking advantage of it.
( On a side note,, YOUNG 70'S PRIME George Foreman send Michael Moorer into a never waking coma within 2 rounds)
Mike Tyson over every opponent he ever beat
Explains itself I think.
Floyd Mayweather Jr over Oscar De La Hoya
People tend to give him way too much credit over this win, oscar wasn't quite as dead against floyd as against manny but this was maybe a 40% Oscar compare to his prime.
Manny Pacquiao over Oscar De La Hoya
This was literally a dead man walking
Vitali Klithscko 'moral win the event' Tko loss to Lennox Lewis.
Never in my entire life have I ever seen anyone get so much credit and glorification for losing at something. Up 4-2 on the scorecards and bleeding profusely from one eye with vision going blind, and a very high chance of being knocked out and with a good chance of being seriously hurt, Vitali fans still manage to spin a victory on a Tko.
Joe Calzaghe over Bernard Hopkins
This was actually a very very close fight rofl. That just shows how overrated mr Calzaghe is himself.
