Ultimately he is like Michael Jordan, great player but not worth a biopic, hence why Dennis Rodman was a better character to do a movie about.Comment

Weve already seen the 1940-2012 boxers on video. The pre WWII fighters deserve it more.
1. Bob Fitzsimmons-Interesting life that spans 3 divisions, 3 continents and 3 decades of sport.
2. John L Sullivan- The first HW Champion
3. Harry Greb- possibly the greatest fighter not named robinson
4. Harry Wills- The uncrowned heavyweight king of the 20's.Comment

Jack Johnson, his affairs with white women in the 30's is enough to do it. First Afro american heavyweight champion and all that **** of Great White Hope of Jack London. There is a movie already, but from 1970. i think is worth a remake.

Naa plenty of a story line depending on how they would do it. Of course they could start with his family issues and the way he was brought up and the training his dad made him do.
Then there is the Olympics where he was robbed of a gold medal. The stories of his career, title shots, failing a drug test, being disqualified and then getting a first round revenge.
All that could lead up to his HW victory which could be mentioned as goal of his at an early age in the beginning of the movie to tie everything together. In the meantime you would have him commentating, making movies, and rapping...
They made a movie about Ward, they could easily make a movie about Jones. The only question is, how do you end it? At the top when at HW? Or does it get more realistic and get in to the fact that fighters tend to stay in the game longer than they should.
I would be curious as to what actor would play Jones Jr if a movie was made.Comment

It's not just about being good, you have to be interesting to have a biopic done or an interesting story. Mickey Ward had an interesting story, even though he was an average fighter. James Braddock had an interesting story even though he was an average fighter.
Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston, Oscar De La Hoya, Ron Lyle, Rocky Marciano, Sugar Ray Leonard, Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr, any of those could have good movies made about them.
Ron Lyle would be a GREAT biopic for boxing. He grew up in Denver, lived in housing projects and was 1 of 19 children in his family. Was involved in gangs and murdered someone in a gang shootout. Spent 7 1/2 years in Canon City state prison. Learnded how to box while in prison. Came out and turned pro. Beat the likes of Buster Mathis, Gregorio Peralta, Juergen Blin, Oscar Bonavena, Jimmy Ellis, Boone Kirkman, Earnie Shavers, and Joe Bugner. Also fought Jimmy Young, Muhammad Ali, and George Foreman. Was beating Ali before the stoppage and fought a classic with George Foreman.
Dereck Chisora at the rate he's going would make an interesting biopic.
Also, Ricky Hatton would be an interesting one as well.Comment
