I see a very similar fight, with Khan trying to fight from the pocket a bit more early in the fight..I don't believe either will have an easy time in this fight,we're in for another close fight imo...
Anyone see Peterson having a much easier time vs Khan?

There's nothing technical about pushing your opponent off of you, it's more like a "trick", not a "technique". It's funny how you say Khan wasn't able to do "what he's trained to do," which shows how one-dimensional Roach truly is. A well-versed trainer would give his fighter multiple effective game-plans that would neutralize the opponent's advantages. Pushing isn't one of them, because it is considered illegal.
So, basically what you're saying is that Khan will win this time because he'll have a referee that will allow him to get away with his tricks. He can SURELY be proud of that, right? lolComment

It will be very similar. Difference will likely be a ref that doesn't allow Peterson to fight inside, at least not enough to be at his best.Comment

Oh and much love to Peterson too. The story of his, his passion and hard work, I respect. dC came out for him, which was great for boxing.
Peterson is a guy who I look at, even though he is fighting my fighter, and still wish him all the best.Comment

i dont know what khan will do, but i suggest he either learn to slap and turn so as not to get pinned into an inside fight or learn to fight on the inside
ariza will probabley just train him for strength though, and they will try and get the koComment

Pushing is a part of boxing. it might be illegal but to have points deucted like that?
Anyway Peterson has his own flaws, such as that leaning straight back thing, he better stop that.
Khan simply cannot fight on the inside & his stamina is horrible. He might be the fastest fighter on the planet for 3 rounds, after that he becomes ordinary.Comment

The vast majority of refs allow fighters to push off each other to create space like that, they NORMALLY only penalize for pushing if you're shoving a fighter to the ground on purpose. What the ref did that night was ABNORMAL, he did something the majority of refs would NOT do because they know that pushing is used to create space when its the sort of pushing Khan was doing. Steve Smoger even TOLD Khan on numerous occassions to "push him off" when Malignaggi tried to crowd Khan like Peterson did. The Khan-Peterson ref should really be banned for obvious favoritism and unjustifiable point deductions.
There are better ways to deal with Peterson's pressure, but Khan simply didn't know what the **** to do. Peterson kept bum-rushing him specifically because Khan didn't know what to do lol. Did you notice that Khan was cutting off the ring on himself? That's how idiotic Khan gets when he is pressured. He's a speedy mid-range fighter that throws combinations, but is absolutely USELESS on the inside. Peterson got into his chest and started throwing body shots. What was Khan's answer? Push off or grab. He has no idea how to control his opponent when he's that close to him. Khan needs to watch how guys like Ward fight on the inside, cuz if he doesn't fix that problem, he will have another close fight yet again where he looks mediocre.
Now, what could Khan have done?? Throw a more authoritative jab, throw an uppercut as Peterson was squared up, stand your ground a little and throw to the pit of Peterson's stomach, etc etc. Khan did NOT need to push to win this fight.Last edited by kiaba360; 03-10-2012, 06:30 PM.Comment
