(I was fishing on Dan Rafael's chat today for any info I could find on Gamboa. Below are some excerpts. Nothing earth-shattering, but I thought some of you might find something of interest.)

Any news on Rigondeax ? By the way Gamboa twetted last night that there will be a surprised ? Any idea ? Thank you.
Dan Rafael(12:07 PM)
Rigondeaux could wind up on the Pacquiao-Bradley PPV card from what I am told. As for Gamboa's "surprise," no idea.
fabian (San Francisco)
Dan, purchased my gamboa vs Rios tickets and been trying to get a refund since Monday....Ticketmaster is glassing me saying the fight is still scheduled to happen no refund?!?! is it happening or not?
Dan Rafael (12:23 PM)
The fight is still schedule officially at the moment. At some point, if Gamboa really is out, it will formally be called off.
Gilberto (Miami)
Do you think its fair for the media and fight fans to call Gamboa a coward considering there is no proof that a contract was ever signed and statements are always made on his behalf, never Gamboa himself.
Dan Rafael(1:30 PM)
Nobody disputes there was never a signed contract but that does not mean anything. If he OK'd the terms and Top Rank has a record of that that is all that is needed. Business (including boxing) goes forward when deals have not been signed if there is an agreement both sides have OK'd, which is what Top Rank says was the case here. A "signed" contract is not the only thing needed to make a deal binding.
Gilberto (Miami)
That is true. But ..In my opinion anyone can agree to terms through an e-mail conversation, that should not make anything "binding". Imagine how many details can be twisted in favor of the promotoers/managers if written dialogue was used in place of a legal contract.
Dan Rafael(1:37 PM)
Legally it does make it binding generally.
Richie (Bronx NY)
Does Top Rank have a date of when it will official call off Gamboa/Rios if it does...
Dan Rafael(1:49 PM)
I'm sure they do but they have not publicly disclosed it.
