Hatton went to the fight around the same weight on fight night as he fought at 140 to keep his speed etc he said this before the fight. He weighed more than Mayweather on fight night, so no 147 didn't affect him if it did it was in a good way because he didn't have to sweat down to 140.
- Hatton was not able to bully Floyd as easily as someone at 140lbs. oh, yeah, the ref didn't help Hatton either.
- Hatton appeared to get more tired doing what came naturally for him at 140lbs in part because he is doing it at 147lbs against a 147lbs fighter.
- At 147lbs, Hatton's punches are not as effective than lets say fighting a P.Malignaggi at 140lbs. Bigger guy tends to absorb the guy coming up a division easier than the other way around. Not always the case but it was for Hatton.
- It appeared that Hatton couldn't be Hatton at 147lbs as it was MORE tiring to do it for 12 rounds than at 140lbs pushing around the smaller (not 147) fighter.
- You have NO PROOF to say, "wow, Hatton at 147 is the Hatton I remember being effective" ...... I can show you plenty at 140lbs. It's only your opinion against real proof that Hatton's career was fought and effective at 140lbs.
When someone goes up a division, you need to ask yourself, will he still be able to do the things that he did in the previous lower division? Ask yourself that next time you or anyone states that Hatton was better at 147. You have no proof to say the things that you say because Hatton never looked impressive at 147 in his 2 fights compared to Hatton at 140lbs where he himself admitted that he was king at 140lbs not 147lbs.
Hatton after Collazo decided to go back down to 140lbs. He realized where he belonged but you guys are insisting otherwise. Floyd fight happened at 147lbs because the opportunity was there.Last edited by ADP02; 03-11-2012, 10:19 AM.Comment

Being able to be at a weight doesn't mean you will be an effective fighter at that weight compared to the weight that you have been in for your entire career..... that is basic common boxing knowledge but you guys are still insisting otherwise .... with no proof! If you were discussing someone such as Manny then you would have plenty of proof and that is what I have been asking from you ... PROOF! instead I'm getting English lessons from some of you!

Mayweather wieghed less than Hatton did so it was basically a 140 fight without the fighters having to dehydrate to 140. Hatton struggled with the other fighters at 147 because they were bigger than he was used to fighting. Mayweather was not and was the smaller man.Last edited by Jam Jars; 03-11-2012, 10:57 AM.Comment

Hatton weighed the same as he did at 140 on fight night, he didn't have to dehydrate to 140 so if anything he was fresher. How hard is that to understand?

Again, no proof just talk by you .... meaning its your opinion only because Hatton has only 2 fights at WW and never looked good there.
but keep on defending this opinion of yours!Comment
