Comments Thread For: Marck Huck Decides: He's Returning To Cruiserweight

After having lengthy discussions with manager Wilfried Sauerland, Sauerland Event CEO Chris Meyer, trainer Ulli Wegner, and matchmaker Hagen Doering - Marco Huck (34-2, 25KOs) has decided to return to cruiserweight. Huck, still the WBO's cruiserweight champion, has a mandatory obligation against interim-king Ola Afolabi.

Why??? He beat Povetkin and could probably beat a lot of those Ring Top 10 ranked HW's.

      Thats a given

Like i said when Huck first signed to fight POvetkin, that its a Win-win situation

If he fights and beats Povetkin, he'd beat a top 3 HW and become champ

If he fights and loses, he just lost to a top 3 HW, then returns back to CW where he is still champ.

This whole thing worked out better then i expected because it was controversial and alot of people thought he won. So his stock went up with that lose and now hes back at CW as champ

Oh and loads of money along the way

Not a bad decision. He wouldn't beat either Klitschko and he could make some really good fights at CW. Wouldn't mind Hernandez vs Huck for the RING magazine title.

Sauerlands decision I guess because he showed a good performance (although not being able to knock out a fighter who was alredy standing KO is pretty bad) and would earn a good pay day with a Povetkin rematch.

              Good decision.

              Really want to see Pablo-Huck.

              Great fight.

I think there are more interesting match-ups for him at heavyweight, so that's a shame.

I like Afolabi but I'd be surprised if their rematch was much different to their first fight.

But to what end? To what end? No rematch in sight with Povetkin, who is the consensus third best HW, and the only other possible "beltholder" (if you even want to consider him as such). He could stick around and tackle some top 10 contenders at HW, but he could probably make just as much money defending his title in Germany at Cruiser, without nearly the risk, where he has a name and fan base.

No sense in getting ruined by a KLitschko just to get a payday, when you can already make good paydays fighting at your natural weight.

Afolabi was a pretty close, solid fight. . . Not to mention the depth of talent at cruiserweight - where I think there are much better and more meaningful matchups to be had.

I agree about that K bros, but aside from them I'd like to see him against pretty much anyone in the top 20 at heavyweight. Against Povetkin he really went for it and threw a lot of power shots, the prospect of him doing the same thing against Chisora, Adamek, Helenius, Arreola, Mitchell, and others interests me.

Maybe you know the cruiserweight division better than I do, which is possible as I only really watch the title fights, but aside from Lebedev, Cunningham and Afolabi (who he is already faced) there's only really a bout with Hernandez that would have be making 100% sure I tuned in.

Maybe staying at CW is where he'd have the more meaningful fights and earn more, but I can only really favour the fights I expect to be most entertaining.
