He's got an issue with Top Rank at the moment, not the fight.
it's you who is giving gamboa too much credit. the size difference alone is something that gamboa has to worry about. gamboa is fast and skilled but he's not really a slippery type of fighter. his defense is not really that good and he can get hit. if a good pressure fighter with power and good chin like rios who is willing to get 2 to land one, trust me gamboa needs to worry about it.

and gamboa is moving up two weights, there's a big possibility he might lose some of his speed and it's safe to say he's power will not have the same impact at lightweight as it was at featherweight.

Exactly!!! He called for the fight, got the fight, got paid more and then he backed out!! There is no defending this.

Funny when anything goes wrong in boxing, blame Floyd.

As a fan of both, I hope it happens. I actually thought this was great chance for Gamboa to have a really defining win thus far in his career. Hopefully they resolve the money issues and make it happen.

I see it as a fight that Gamboa has the edge in every aspect, outwith the physical size. I take skill over size in most cases.

Gamboa's a far better boxer, he's lightning quick with his hands and feet, he's also very big at his weight so the move up wont be as big as some suggest IMO. I think Rios is a good fighter, but he get's hit too easily for my liking. Acosta was able to trouble him for long periods by boxing, he's nowhere near Gamboa's level in terms of ability or speed. I think the fight will happen still, time will tell how it goes.

This would have been a hell of a fight.
Rios can get crazy and Gamboa is vulnerable but vicious.
Nice combo for a gloved contest.

Gamboa probably watched Broner last week and realized even this may be too much for him. It's all his fault.

Why can't Gamboa do it? He's scared, that's why. If he's not afraid of Rios, he's afraid of Arum, or Ohner, HBO, his contract. Something has him spooked.

That's not a good look as Gamboa at all, I hope the fight still goes on, but this isn't good.
