  • EXCLUSIVE: Good n bad news about the Gamboa situation.

Let's start with the bad... Gamboa did sign a 2 year extension. He isn't happy about it and he feels he wasn't treated well.

Now the good, he does want the fight with Rios! However, in order to accept the fight, he wants a release from Top Rank from the 2 year contract he signed.

Gamboa himself will give his version very soon...

Gamboa doesn't have a choice. Fight and take what he's given or take 2 years or longer layoff. His choice. Work and make money or continue to be a choosing beggar. He's acting too much like a diva at this point in his career to start dictating De La Hoya/Mayweather type concessions.

Ugh...sounds like bad news all around. I agree with Dempsey; I don't think Yuri's getting released from that extension.

Absolutely! If the man was so unhappy with his contract, then why sign an extension?

The economics of boxing are so out of line with reality. All these boxers are demanding way more more than they actually generate. How many tickets does Gamboa sell? What kind of gate does he do? Time for HBO and Showtime to reel these clowns in a bit.
