Now when did Gamboa call out Rios, he just wanted to move up in weight...it was Top Rank who was trying to create this fight.....My question is, why hasn't Top Rank made Gamboa-Lopez?[/QUOTE]

because Lopez just lost badly against Salido and want to redeem himself in a rematch...
if lopez wins convincingly, its luster he lost after a brutal beating to Salido will again be revived....he can then fight anybody put in front of him thereafter...

He doesn't want to be their slave for 5 years. He wants to fight Rios, but only Rios. With the current contract, if Gamboa fights Rios, he has to sign with Top Rank for 5 years and that's the contract issue he's talking about. I know this straight from Gamboa's close entourage.

Yep you hit it right on the head! that's the same thing I'm being told by his people!! believe me he's not afraid of Rios... far from it!!
he realized finally that he is going to get beaten.. but why only speak now.. he could have called any writer that there is no contract months ago.. he's a ducker just like floydie..

so why did team gamboa work this out before the tour?
why did they have to wait until the last minute to say something?
and based on how TR conducts their business (atleast what we read online), they always have a solid contract with their fighters before engaging them to a fight
what gamboa and his handlers did was unprofessional.. They ought to have a good lawyer to help defend themselves against TR's
        hordes of lawyers
and one more thing, it was selfish and unfair to leave team rios hanging
if gamboa had no plans to fight, or didn't have a contract to fight, he could have told rios about it, to save team rios the amount of time they invested in preparing for this supposed fight....NYobserver

Gamboa did a Fraud Maytwitter antic...taunt and retreat...no contract? must be because Fraudie told him not to sign it until he gets all the money and Rios gets nothing. Too bad, associating with Fraudie will make his head bigger than his body and will tumble down like a log in his promising career....Ric H

Top Rank & Arum are the ones who brainstormed the idea of pitting Rios vs Gamboa......I haven't yet to see a quote from last year where Gamboa actually said "I WANT TO SPECIFICALLY MOVE UP 2 WEIGHT CLASSES TO FIGHT BRANDON RIOS"
This isn't true though. Gamboa's team are the one who said Gamboa would be going up to 135 and they are the one's who brought up Brandon Rios. Did Gamboa himself call out Brandon Rios? No, but his team did and they're the one's who gave Top Rank the idea for this fight.

Either way, I don't see how Rios is wrong here. The tickets for this fight already went on sale. HBO has already been promoting this fight. They even had two press conferences set up for the fight where the Mayor of Miami showed up to support Gamboa. There's no way in hell Top Tank put tickets on sale and signed a TV deal unless they thought Gamboa had agreed to the fight. Rios should be calling Gamboa a coward.

Gamboa never signed a contract for this fight!! all he's realized is that he's getting screwed by TR and bob arum! you also said but why speak now? he's hasn't spoken or said a word as of yet...action speaks louder than words and him not showing up is a sign he's not putting up with TRs **** contract! unfortunately in boxing it's business first and Gamboa realized like other boxers ie de la Hoya, mayweather, cotto etc.... that the promoter is taking a big cut and keep back door money along with the manager!! but as a boxer the last thing Gamboa does is fear or duck any other boxer...the guy is truly talented

and thats the truth Gamboa call out Rios when he beat Salido than when he beat Ponce the Leon he call out paquiao, Mayweather and Rios, but I guess is like the boriquas say is not the same to call out the devil, than when you see him comming....lol

With that said I still tink Gamboa has a great chance of beating Rios.

good for gamboa for trying to get out of his slave contract but from reading what i just saw, he has already signed a 2 YEAR extension and wants out. i doubt that'll happen, he just needs to accept it and fight. i was on the fence with this fight, i always felt that if rios wins he might not get the credit he deserves, since he's a big guy trying to squeeze down to 135 to fight a small guy moving up to 135. but now that this fight is in jeopardy and bam bam is talking mad shit about gamboa, i'd like to see this fight go through and watch gamboa be successful and come out on top. still think the weight might stop him from winning (and rios size come fight night) but we'll see, if it happens.
