Even though Gamboa is a great fighter he is not a ticket seller. This fight is all about Gamboa, not Rios. This fight is generating interest because Gamboa is coming up two weight classes to fight. Not because Rios is gonna fight a guy two weight classes below him. Gamboa can come up to 135 and fight DeMarco or some other title holder or top 10 guy, and it would still generate interest. Cause he's the one doing the ballsy move here, not Rios.Comment

Thank You!! So many stating that its all about money when Gamboa never said it is. Maybe it is but he didint say that so lets not speculate. Maybe its something deeper than just money. Could be a weight issue and small ring issue or maybe like he said he never agreed to fight this guy.Comment

neither is rios. both of them have hype behind them but neither of them alone are enough to make headlines. together they made the fight great, tis isnt a case of one fighter having more drawing power than the other, sure rios probably has more, but he isnt exactly close to becoming a mega star, not at all.Comment

My opinion is that Gamboa's skip out of this fight will have major ramifications on his career and not necesarily the obvious - being sued. I think HBO who's part of the current Rios/Gamboa promotion will also have serious doubts about offering him future fights if and when he's over his legal troubles. Reneging on a contracted fight is not the way you do business. It's going to come back and bite him in the ass!Comment

Top Rank knew he wasn't going to show up. So why not reach out and attempt to sort this out through his lawyer in the interim - they had 24 hours to do so. Why continue the press conferences without contacting Gamboa?Comment

You guys still don't get it. It has nothing to do with Rios or this fight. The huge beef right now if between Gamboa and his promoters (both TR and Arena). They're trying to sign him for 5 more years as a condition to have this fight. Gamboa has no problem working with Top Rank but only promoting a few fights at a time, preferably only one. He doesn't want to be their slave for 5 years. He wants to fight Rios, but only Rios. With the current contract, if Gamboa fights Rios, he has to sign with Top Rank for 5 years and that's the contract issue he's talking about. I know this straight from Gamboa's close entourage.Comment

People are upset about this fight, and they rightly should be. I am! But they're failing to see what is going on behind the scenes, you've pointed this out clearly - known something was up all along. ****ing crooks making Gamboa looked bad.You guys still don't get it.
