Pac was a free agent, signed with GBP then Top Rank. Pac sees a better deal with TR, then they go to court which TR won.

Donaire thought he was a free agent but wasn't, TR won on the court again against GBP.

Gamboa signed an extension with TR, then goes to Vegas and end with Floyd.

Well, if this is true that Gamboa signed with Floyd, then something went down between the two. Floyd probably said something to Gamboa that he will earn more money with him or some crap like that.

Gamboa is in his 30's and a mess up like this could mean career suicide.
i think its bull**** how they sharked the dude, but hes an adult. he shouldnt have signed if he knew he didnt want to. i kinda feel bad for cuban athletes, this happens to them alot and oner is usually the one whos involved. with that said, gamboa should have known better. and there is no need for him to sign the final agreement, an oral contract or an implied contract is enough, there is no statute of frauds because its not a fight thats gonna take one full year to complete. so yea, i really dont see his way out of any of this.

Why do people think Arum screws his fighters? Doesn't he just get the standard 27% promotional fee that all promotors get for putting up the capital, and the risk to make the fights? Doing all the legwork involved in promotions? Don't these fighters have lawyers and managers who review contracts for them - so they would know what they were getting into if they were really about to get "screwed"?

If Gamboa wanted to "take control" of his career, he should finish out his contract with TR, pushing for the biggest and best fights. . Save money, and when contract is up, promote himself? Or at least work hand in hand with other promotors of the fighter you are trying to fight? Put up your end of the money, and go from there.
Thats what I dont get... these fighters have to have legitimate lawyers review these big time contracts, how could Arum be exploiting these guys so bad?

Sounds like Gamboa will only be fighting in the court room this year.

Gamboa is putting himself between a Rock and a hard place. He needs to fight otherwise he will be on the shelf for a long while.
